Three words for 'ya: darn glad you're here! Okay, if you saw Bruce Willis and Ben Affleck in the highest-grossing film in 1998, Armageddon, then you caught that. Sure, I can count but it's not as much fun as reminiscing about Bruce and Ben's characters and laughing every time Bruce purposely miscounted his words to create a sentence. Then again, it's probably not as much fun as thinking about the number of you who weren't even conceived yet.

Just like those scenes served as rhetorical devices, Destiny Christian Magazine seeks to engage and unite readers and writers around the world for the glory of God. Same tactic, different technique: save humanity for the greatest good.

In the movie, the Freedom shuttle moves to a safe distance and Harry (Bruce Willis) triggers the detonation while his life flashes before his eyes. Making the greatest sacrifice, Harry focuses on his daughter, Grace, as the bomb successfully splits the asteroid, avoiding the collision with Earth. Freedom safely returns to Earth (without Harry, obviously), and the surviving crew are treated as heroes. A.J. and Grace get married, with photos of Harry and the other lost crew members present. As one who has Freedom in Christ, I am by no means a hero

As one who has Freedom in Christ, I am by no means a hero. However, it is my desire that something equally meaningful and important has been written within these pages that will resonate so loudly within you that 20 years from now you'll still be using "LOL" or "OMG" to describe it. As life flashes before our eyes when we make the ultimate sacrifice of surrender, each of us is given an opportunity to choose and focus on what really matters.

With that said, I am fully aware that writing is the platform I am to use to help others. I may never make it to outer space, but writing takes me out of this world. It is my "what matters most." Therefore, as we eagerly await the return of Christ, it is my prayer that you will join me on this journey, starting with this first issue of Destiny. As Christ leads and directs you to perhaps discover and use your own "what matters most," will you walk with me? If so, get ready to live on purpose and face your destiny.
