Kimberley's Point Of View

I looked over at my ginormous bookshelf and began scanning the books, bored and not knowing what else to do.

To Kill A Mockingbird.

Naruto - Volume 39.

Diary Of A Wimpy Kid.

Hey, what's that one doing here?! Alex must've put it there. Ah well. He'll never get it back. Once he's misplaced it in my room, it's mine.

Lord Of The Flies.

The Hunger Games.

Then, all of a sudden, I saw a book that was white and had green swirls on it. It read with bold, red text - Hetalia : Axis Powers. With some Japanese symbols next to it.

Oh, I remember this one.

I saw this discount at the book store while looking for the Son of Neptune, the new book in the Heroes of Olympus series. The discount read 'Buy One, Get One Free!' And apparently, I saw that Son of Neptune had the sticker on it, which meant it had a discount. I looked for the first book I could find that also had the sticker, and stumbled upon this one.

Oh, by the way, I'm Kimberley Chianna. Filipina. 18. Just a normal high-schooler living in the rowdy streets of Los Angeles. Except that I can't speak, which is totally annoying because instead I have this notepad with an endless supply of paper in which I can write on. I can also do American Sign Language. I can't speak because...well, I kind of can, I just sing what I say.

You could call it a curse.

So, anyway, I never actually got to read the mangabook. Nor did I want to. But, the temptation was too much to ignore now. And besides, I was dead bored.

I picked up the colorful book from the shelf and looked at the back. After reading the blurb, I became interested. After all, I was such a history buff. Who knew you could personify countries into humans?

I warily opened the book and flipped through the pages.

A second later, I was falling through a hole. "T-the heck?! I'm not Alice!" I thought angrily. I remembered a flah of light appearing in front of me when I flipped to the middle of the book and here I was. Falling through the hole to God-knows-where. Probably Wonderland. Probably not.

Pretty soon, I landed in a dark alleyway. "Ughhh...nasaan na ako*..." I wondered in my country's native tongue. After a few minutes of convincing myself to get up, even bribing myself, which seemed almost impossible, I got up and walked out the alleyway.
