I was so happy, finally I was about to meet my long lost brother. We were meeting at the coffee shop down the street. I just found out I had a brother about a week ago. I was going through my parents house, when I found all this stuff about this child, Manny Tate. I had no idea who he was but I did know that my parents had tons of stuff about him. So I wanted to know more about him.
The next day I called my mom and asked about Manny. They shocked me, they explained how Manny was their first born but they did not have enough money to afford to take care of him. So at age one they gave him up for adoption. But many years later dad got a good paying job and mom became a chef. They then had enough to take care of their second born, me. But they said they never even tried to get Manny back, which made me want to scream.
So three days later, I got a call from my mom. It went like this.
Mom:“ Hi hun, I know your still a little mad but we found Manny and if you want his number we have it.”
Me: “ Yes! Yes! Yes! How old is he? Where does he live? Does he know about you and dad? Does he even know about me?”
Mom: “ He does not know us, but his other parents know us and they set up a time at this great coffee house for you to meet him.”
Me: “ But wait answer my other questions.”
Mom: “ Ok he lives in Chicago so not that far from us and he is 35.”
Me: “Cool I have a brother 5 years older then me. So when am i meeting him?”
Mom: “ Next Thursday, at 8:00 pm at Phillies coffee shop down the street.”
Me: “ Thanks, got to go, love you.”
Mom: “ Alright bye, love you too.”
So thats the story of how I found out I had an older brother.
So now it’s Thursday at 7:30 and I just got to Phillies, waiting for Manny. One problem I have is I have no idea what he looks like. Well also this place gives me the creeps. There is a only one guy here and he’s scary looking. Well there is the worker here. I wonder why we met at such a late time. I decide i’ll wait for Manny to come before I order my coffee.
Manny comes 20 minutes later. I knew it was him because he looked just like my father. At first it was really awkward, but then we sat down, hugged and talked about out lives. I told him about mom and dad, and how they did not want to give him away but for to Manny have a good life, they had to.
Me : So, did you know you were adopted?
Manny: Well my parents never really told me but I sensed that I was different then them.
Me : Oh, do you have any siblings?
Manny: Yeah, I have an older sister, but she got married a couple years ago and moved to New York. Do you have any?
Me : Nope just me, mom and dad.
Manny: How did you find out about me?
Me : I was helping clean out mom and dads house and I found pictures of you when you were a little under one.
Manny: Do you think I could meet my real parents?
Me : Of course, they told me to have you call them and see when you want to meet then. Heres their number. 123- 456-7890.
Manny: Thanks so much well i have to get going but I’ll see you soon
Me : All right bye.
