The cold winds bit against my legs. I hung thousands of feet above the ground, clutching onto the edge of a window sill. My name is Annabelle Waters. The year is 1935, war is raging apon us, and her i hang from a window.

"Doctor!" I called for the man.

My story doesn't start this way...OUR story doesn't start this way. You see, I'm your average 17 year old girl. I have brown hair, hazel eyes, and freckles. I stand at about 5'6 in my best pair of white high heels. Hitler called war, and everything has been hell since. I am not Jewish, and so i have nothing to fear...yet. but he is an unkind man, and i know he will come for people like me soon enough...

I live with my family, which includes: my mother, my father, my 2 brother Ralph and Fredrick, my Sister Josephine, and my 'friend' Tessie. Tessie is no average friend. She is what many call Imaginary...she is my only really friend and i enjoy having her around. no matter how many concerned stares i get or, or how many times my teacher talks to my mother. She is my friend. Mother chose to look past it...since the war started she has looked past alot. She wants to help us and believes that we should feel happy and safe in these gloomy, dangerous times.

Father works most days. He is home for Sundays. That is when we have church. Many people from the neighborhood gather together to talk and read from the bible. it is not much but it is our little church and it has brought us all together.

Tessie has disappeared lately. i haven't spoken to her in afew days...truly i hope she is OK. But this is a different story all together. This story concerns her...but she is no main character. our character is a tall, kind man, with big green eyes that have seen the world and the universe. This man is a hero who has made bad decisions.

This is a man who changed my life forever...he was a change that started on the corner outside my house in the pouring rain.

I was walking down the street along side a group of ladies, including my mother. A basket hung from my arm. It was only just starting to rain and the building my family was staying in was just afew minutes away. My hair hung in a braid, mother always said it made me look more mature. she said i was too childish and even if i atleast looked mature it would be better. she never understood me...

My shoes clicked against the side walk as i walked. i watched my feet as i walked. everyone around me faced the ground...it was something we all did to avoid the world, because who wants to see a world like this?

Afew more steps and i collided with a man. A tall, kind, green eyed man. He stood in a long coat and odd clothes. he did not look familiar...he looked...wrong. his clothes were wrong, his hair was wrong. I stumbled back, falling on my butt, surprised. he stopped. was he one of them? one of the men who worked for...him...He didn't seem like it but no man ever does.

He looked at me "Hello." He spoke. I stared up at him.

"...Hello sir..." I mumbled. he reached down to help me up but i gratefully declined. I stood on my own and dusted off my skirt. I looked around...my basket...it had fallen when i stumbled. where was it now? He held it out for me and i quickly took it. He stood beside a large blue box, that read "Police telephone box". What on earth was it? I stepped back. "Who are you?"

"I'm the Doctor, an you are?" He asked, smiling.

'I-I'm Annabel...Annabel Waters..." I looked at him. "Excuse me for saying...But you do not look like a Doctor. You're dressed abit odd and i've never seen a respectable man with hair...like yours..." I stated.

He smiled "I'm not A doctor, i'm THE Doctor. It's a name" He replied.

I Thought about this for a moment before asking "Well sir...if you aren't a doctor...what are you?"

He laughed "If i told you, you would never believe me." He answered. I smiled.

"Does your job have something to do with that-" I stopped. Looking beside him the box was gone, vanished. "Where did it go?"

"Where did what go?" He asked

"the box! the big blue box! It was huge...it cant have just...disappeared!" I exclaimed. I had lost it. It couldn't have been there one second and then gone the next, that was utterly impossible, was it not? Was it some kind of magic? I shouldn't have been so stupid to believe it but i found myself believing it anyway. I looked past the man to see my mother was gone, she must have already reached the house and here i was babbling like an idiot girl to a man i had never met before today who claimed to be a doctor but not a doctor, a man who may or may not have been magic who may or may not have had a big blue box that i had never even heard of...Who did he think he was?

He smiled down at me "Miss i think you've come down with a cold...For there has never been a large blue box here. You must be sick to believe so..."

I narrowed my eyes "You are no doctor you can not diagnose me. and im not sick! there was a huge blue box here only a minute ago!"

He patted my head "Go home miss get some rest and hopefully you wont hallucinate anymore." And with that he was leaving. i wasn't about to call out the the stupid man and make a bigger fool of myself. perhaps he was even...right...no of course he wasn't, i was a smart young girl and i could see perfectly fine. i was not hallucinating. i knew there had been something there...yet i went home anyway...

i didn't spend anytime looking for the mysterious box...and i didn't chase the handsome, crazy, young man. I simply went home...just as he had told me to do...he annoyed me...he truly did and i knew i was going to find that box and that man again...i don't know how i knew i just knew he was coming back...,
