6 months

Chapter 1

Maya's POV

I didn't know what to think. The doctors words replayed in my head over and over again.
I have cancer.
I have cancer.
I. Have. Cancer.
Why me? God, why me? I asked silently in my head.
I had just been to the doctors, I have low iron so I was having my annual blood test and they called me back today. The doctors told me I had about 6 months left, then I was dead. I suppose the only good thing is that it's quick and painless. Just breaking down my insides till I'm a gonna.
I walked home not sure what to think, I had to tell my mom.
Walking through the door I saw her, all happy, and I was about to ruin that.
" Hey hunny! How was the doctors? Sorry I couldn't go with you, you know how work is."
" Yeah I know mom. Um... I have to tell you something."
" What Hun?" She said worried.
" God I'll just say it, the doctors... they diagnosed me with cancer."
"What... no..." she said choking on a sob.
" My baby." She said engulfing me in a hug as she cried.
" Mom I love you." I whispered as silent tears rolled down my face.
"Mom?"
" Yes." She said trying to wipe her tears, but it was no use as they kept on falling.
" I only have 6 months."
" 6 months... "
She wrapped her arms round me once more.
It was a few hours later I left to go to the Mathews as I needed to tell them.
I walked down the hall towards their apartment door. Opening it, a small sad smile crept onto my face as I saw the scene before me.
The happy little family together.
Like it should be.
" Hey Mathews."
" Hey Maya!" Riley said happily.
" Um I need to talk to Topanga and Corey." I said.
" Of course Maya."
"Riley, can you take Auggie to the park please?" Topanga said.
Riley and Auggie left happily.
I sat down with Topanga and Corey at the table.
" Maya whats the matter?" Corey asked.
" I'll just say it, it's easier just saying something. I have cancer, I have 6 months to live..." I finished slowly.
" what?No, you can't be."Topanga said as she started to cry.
" Maya, oh god I can't believe this happened." Corey said as he seemed heartbroken.
The three shared some hugs, as the two adults cried and the young girl tried to remain strong.
It was then Riley walked through the door without Auggie.
" Auggie went to Ava's." Riley explained.
" Why do you all look so sad?" She asked a childish innocence about her expression.
" Riley... I have to tell you something. Look, don't get upset because everything will be fine. Okay?" Maya said slowly.
" Maya your worrying me?"
" Riley, I've been diagnosed with Cancer, I've got 6 months."
"NO!... You can't! You can't die Maya! Your my best friend...!" Riley managed to get out before she broke down. The blonde hugged her best friend as she cried into her.
" Riley I'm not going anywhere for a while, I'm still your best friend."
"Maya... I love you, your always going to be my non-blood related sister."
"Same." Maya muttered back.

A few days later,

Most people had been told, Farkle had cried his heart out and Lucas was no better in crying department.
I had told Shawn yesterday, he told me he loved me as if I were he own daughter.
It was Christmas tomorrow, I was at the Mathews, enjoying my last Christmas I guess. The door opened to show my mom and Shawn, well dad now I suppose. I gave the two a smile and said hiya.
About ten minutes later the door opened again to show Amy and Alan, Riley's grandparents and then Josh followed through. A couple of months ago Josh and I decided that we would both play the long game. I then hit me.
I hadn't told Josh yet.
I needed to tell him.
" Hey Maya." He said with his signature smirk.
" Hey Josh. Um I've got to tell you something."
