As the bell rang, I slowly gathered my stuff and left the classroom. Finally this dreadful day has ended, I hate public schools, they're full of careless people and noisy assholes. I walked to my locker and sighed as I returned the text books to their rightful places. Got to keep my locker neat so I may find what books I need easily. As I began walking to the front doors, I remembered I'm going with Jake to the coffee shop, Jake, that's his name right? Mmmm.. Oh well. I texted my mom saying I'm going out with a new student she, of course, replies stating the fact they she would be home late anyways. I sighed and began scrolling through my Instagram feed when I got a text, 'HEY! It's Jake! Meet me at the front parking lot? See you in a bit!' I smiled to myself, he's so nice. I began walking then I noticed that I forgot my wallet in my locker. I quietly jogged down and got it. As I shut my locker door, I heard foot steps behind me. I turned around and jumped, it's just Jake. He smiled, "Hey! Trying to secretly get away?" he chuckled. I laughed lightly, "No! I forgot my wallet, I'm sorry." He laughed, "Why apologize? Nevermind.. Uh, let's go?" I nodded and we began walking to the coffee shop.
~15 minutes later~
We arrived at the coffee shop after 15 minutes of silent walking, ugh I could really go for some Hot Cocoa! I smiled to myself as we walked in, I've always loved this place, it's calm and has a nice atmosphere to it. I walked up and ordered myself a hot cocoa then asked Jake what he wanted, "Want anything?" He nodded then orders a regular cup of coffee. I scrunched my nose then went to grab my wallet. Jake grabbed his and paid instead, "Uh, I could have paid!" He chuckled and shook his head, 'Nope! Never let the lady pay!" I sighed and sat down at the small table by the window. I love what the view looks like, it's so nice. It's a small town, so there aren't many big buildings. Maybe one? After we got our drinks, I sighed and took a sip. Mmmm, I love this place because if you're a regular, they remember how you like your drinks. That's me so happy. Jake cleared his throat, "So Melanie, how old are you? " I looked up at him and laughed softly, "Isn't it obvious? I'm 15." He smiled, "I wanted to just make sure, I'm 17 almost 18. So how long have you been living here?" I shrugged, "About 2 years maybe 3. Not very long." He grinned, "Oh, that's nice! Uhm, I have a question..." I looked at him, signifying for him to continue. He took a deep breathe then spoke softly, "How are things with your father?" I drew in a sharp breathe, "Th-Things are better... They got divorced so now he isn't around at all..." He smiled softly to himself, "I'm glad things got better, I was very worried.." I looked at him then looked down at my Hot Cocoa, "Thank you.." He looked up at me as I took another drink, "What for..?" I sighed then sat my cup down, "Not many people know about my dad and those who don't believe me, I'm kind of glad someone actually asked if I was alright." He nodded, listening intently. I took another drink then spoke a little higher in pitch, "So, tell me about yourself! I hate depressing topics!" He chuckled then said softly, "You always have..." He then began talking louder about everything, from since he was living in Ohio to when He lived in Virginia and Washington then to how he got here. It's nice listening to him, he seems interesting.. But, I still don't know if I can trust him completely. As I finished my drink, he did too. I stood up and offered to throw the things away, he nodded and handed me his cup, as I walked away he gathered his things then stood up. I walked back over then gathered my things as well, he pulled his phone out as I walked over to him then he snapped a photo of me, "H-Hey! What the fuck?" He laughed, "I need a contact photo!" I mumbled softly, "Could have asked for one...." He smiled then held the door open for me. I walked out and began walking towards my house. He followed, I soon realized he only lived like twp houses away... Oh this is gonna be fun. He walked me up to my porch then smiled, "I wanted to make sure you made it inside.." I blushed softly and whispered, "Thank you, Jake.." I unlocked my door and walked in. I watched him walk away from my window.. Tonight was kind of fun.. More fun than I've had in while... I heard my phone bing then I grabbed it, "(Jake Collin) - I had so much fun! Thank You! I'm so glad I got to see you again, it's been so long! I hope you and I can become good friends again!" I smiled to myself and replied, "(ME) - yeah, me too :)" I sat my phone down and started working on homework, I have quite a bit to do. It's also getting kind of late...
~1 hour later~
As I finished up, I put all my stuff away and sighed to myself. I should probably take a shower. As I gather my things, my mom arrived home. She smiled as she walked by, "Hello honey!" I smiled, "Hey mom! I'm just gonna grab a shower then we can talk, okay?" She nodded then I walked into the bathroom.. She's gonna be so pleased that I made a new friend and I actually hung out with them too... Maybe I'm finally moving forward and healing... God I hope so... I turned on some music and hopped into the shower.
