Eunbi was already astounding at first sight. She was not your typical beauty, of shining wide eyes or a breathtaking array of pearl white teeth who seemed to glow wherever she walked.
She had a nose so obviously botched from surgery, and eyes that grew wary over time. Her lips pursed close together and never seemed to break apart, and she had skin flawed from head to toe.
But that's not what made her astounding. Eunbi's eyes always held the tiniest bit of mirth, some sort a promise of who you'd know her to be. Her eyes, though tired and sad, glimmered as they smiled. And although she bit her lips every now and then, whenever she did grin up wide, or laugh with a booming sound, or even the slightest chuckle, it made my breath hitch and world stop. She was
