I take a stand onto the deck in the transporter room with my bag slinging from my right shoulder. "I'm ready," I announce.

"Good luck," the Starfleet worker smiles at me as he sends me off.

Naturally, my body feels to be complete with butterflies, all fluttering around in excitement. I smile, breathing in some confidence while straightening my back.

I am going to The Enterprise! Not many first officers get to go there for their first job! I remember.... Wesley Crusher? Having the chance, or something like that, but he changed his mind. I mean, I can understand why. The Starfleet academy can be stressful at times. The work they gave me almost killed me, gah. But I have such a deep love for astrophysics! I'm not giving up on that.

I reappear on another ship's transporter room, Commander Riker standing with his hands behind his back, expecting me. I offer him a smile and step down, my bag slapping my left thigh as I did so. I shake his hand. He welcomes me with a warm smile to which I return. He tells me about where I will be staying, and we begin that way towards my new room.

Nervousness rams my mind as the commander speaks to me. I don't want to make a fool of myself... again.

"So what's up with that?" I speak, pointing at a metal panel on the wall with wires hanging out of the side.

Riker raises a brow. "Excuse me?"

Whoops.

"Oh, um, sorry, why are there wires hanging out of the panel?"

He nods in acceptance. "Our chief engineer is working on a few repair. And you will refer to me as sir," He stops to give me a glare.

I nod in an instant, ducking my head to avoid eye contact again.

We make it to my room, and the commander doesn't say anything other than I have to report to my new station in 15 minutes. I replied with "Yes, sir," like he wanted, and he seemed satisfied.

I set my bag down on my bed, unzipping it and pulling out my second blue uniform. I wear one gold button, and I attach it to my collar. Gliding across the floor with precision, taking in every inch of the area, I stare in the mirror. Twirling around, I giggle and pull my hair into a bun.

My fifteen minutes of alone time run out, and I rush out the door in a flash, speed walking to my station I have yet to map out.

Reaching the area, huffing to allow air into my lungs, I groan dramatically.

I find people to be staring at me.

A lot of them.

"So you're the newbie?" A male in a blue uniform begins.

"You know it!" I grin widely, giving him a thumbs up.

"Let me show you to your workstation," one of the females offer, waving her tan and slightly wrinkled hands.

I awe when I see a private screen across the floor in front of my personal desk with a large computer. The screen also has a plastic board with markers for me to write on. To my dejection, the colors are boring with just gray and white. But since it is my office, I can change it up!

"I read up on your achievements in Starfleet academy. Your equations in astrophysics are quite impressive,"

I smile.

"Thank you."
