Chapter 2: Fever
The next morning, Gaia woke up to a blurry scene of heads hovering over her. A wet cloth rested on her forehead and a thermometer took her temperature.
" It's a fever for sure." Whispered Gaia's mother.
" For sure, her temperature is 103." Agreed Otto, Gaia's father.
Gaia felt shivers climb up her body. Her hands were sweaty.
Then the last thought she wanted to think popped into her head. The Argo conversation.
Barely knowing it, Gaia mumbled this: " What will he do to me?" it was almost a whisper.
Agnes and Otto stopped talking.
" What did she sa-"
"Argo," Gaia said, now more aware of what she was saying " What is he going to do?"
Mr. and Mrs. Maz looked at each other aghast.
"Otto..." Mrs. Maz trailed off. Her eyes widened.
" She... knows?" He whispered. Mrs. Maz put a hand to her mouth, than quickly looked down at Gaia.
Gaia was beginning to cry. She didn't know why.
" Just tell me," she pleaded. She sat up and covered her blood shot eyes " Please."
Her mother and father sat down on the sides of her bed, and wrapped their arms around her.
"Don't you worry my little angle," her mother whispered "don't you worry."
