It was an average Friday. The music played through the halls between passing periods and everyone was talking about their plans for the weekend. First period was study hall which went by pretty quickly. I just sit around watching videos and occasionally texting Quentin about how he was a dumbass. We always joked like that. Second period came around and Mr. Polen asked about everyone's plans for the weekend. A few people said they were going to go see a movie or something, but none could top my plan. I was going to take Olivia out to eat and we were going to spend most of Saturday together. It was going to be fun. Third Fourth and Fifth period went by quickly like usual. Those classes were History, German, and Precal. I loved history but our teacher wasn't the most exciting guy in the world, he mostly spoke in a monotone voice. German was boring like normal, my friends and I would sit in the corner and talk about other things while our teacher tried to get the other kids to understand the basics of German. We all laughed at how simple it was. At lunch I sat with Becca, Kennedy, and Ben. We were laughing and joking around. There was some stupid cartoon show playing I think it was Paw Patrol or something like that. I didn't pay much attention to it. That is until the TV blasted through the air "BREAKING NEWS", I nearly pissed myself. We all turned to the TV to see what was going on. "Bombs are plaguing America as we speak. We have reports of California and Wyoming are up in flames and the surrounding states." the news anchor seemed worried beyond belief.
"Are they going to hit Indiana?" Becca looked at me with huge eyes as I dropped my sandwich onto the table. Luckily it was fine.
"I-I hope not," I said in a failing voice worried about what would happen.
"Just in. That Ohio is hit," The news lady was almost in tears at this point. The lunchroom exploded in hysteria, kids were screaming all over. Worried what to do. No adults had told us what to do yet so Becca, Ben, Kennedy, and I went downstairs to band. We all sat in the band room in silence not knowing what to do or what happened. Our teacher wasn't there, they all had been called in for an emergency meeting.
Just five minutes had passed before we heard the sound of jets above us. We all looked with huge eyes as everything began to shake. Becca crawled under a marimba for cover, and some crawled under vibraphones. I happened to slide under the desk that was in there. The whole world seemed to erupt at once, The sound of bombs exploding and kids screaming nearly deafened me. The ceiling started to fall down and glass was flying everywhere. I looked over at Becca who was under the marimba. She was looking over at Bennett and Quentin who were under a vibraphone, she waved at them and then a beam fell down between them. More and more things were falling and flying around.
"We have to run!" Ben shouted as he shoved the door open. Everyone started to get out from cover and run towards him. As I crawled out from under the desk a part of a beam fell down on top of it. I decided that I could stop to be glad later if I made it out alive. We ran as fast as we could. Becca was in the back of the group trying to keep up. We reached a bridge and quickly started to cross. We were all almost across the bridge when we heard another bomb. It sounded like it was close behind us. We got across the bridge and then we heard a scream. We looked back in horror. Becca had been on the bridge as it collapsed.
"BECCA!" we all were shouting and watching as she fell into the pit. We were helpless. There was nothing we could do.
"We need to keep moving." I said trying to keep myself together. If we were going to get through this we would need someone to look up to. Someone who had the confidence to keep us moving and alive. I was determined to keep us all alive.
We kept running for a while, buildings were collapsing all around us. People were screaming and crying, not knowing what to do. The scene was horrible, it was like a scene from the apocalyptic movies. I just hope no one was around the Statue of Liberty, if you don't know what I mean just look it up. Jokes aside we were all scared. The jets just kept coming and coming in never ending waves. Whoever was behind this wanted to make sure no American survived.
The bombs just kept coming and the fires raged all around. For a while I thought there was no possible way we could get out of the area alive. I then saw our escape route. A small opening in the fire, it was perfect.
"This way!" I shouted leading everyone over to the exit. We all got through the gab and continued to run. We eventually came to a wall that was too tall for some to get over, so I got down on all fours and helped my friends over. The last person grabbed my hand and helped me get up. Once we were all over we took off trying to escape the bombs. I was in the back of the group. All of a sudden a bomb hit a building nearby and the debris was headed straight for us. Kennedy tripped so I picked her up and pushed her out of the way. I looked up and realized it was too late the debris was almost on me. Last thing I remember, the whole world went black.
