I sat straight up and hit Taylor who was leaning over me. He fell over and said," Ouch". I mumbled, "Sorry" and helped him up.
"Are you ok?" I asked.
He gave me a strange look and said," Am I ok? I should be asking you the same question."
"How long was I out?" I asked.
"About ten minutes. I was going to Iris-message your dad and tell him what happened if you didn't wake up soon."
"Ok, well we had better be getting back before they come looking for us."
"Yep. Oh, and here's the spoil of war from our fight."
He handed me the Minotaur's horn and with that, we headed back to my house.
                              --------------
We must have looked worse than we realized, because when we walked through the door the adults went quiet. The silence was broken by my mom saying," What happened to you guys?" and walking over to us.
"It's a long story" I said, "But we met the Minotaur and kind of battled him. We defeated him of course."
"The Minotaur?" my dad asked," Why can't he just stay dead?!"
"I asked myself the same question."
"Back up. Tell us the whole story first. You guys look awful!" my mom said.
"Wow, thanks mom" I said but told them the story anyway.
When I was finished my mom said," Well, you guys have had a long night. You should get to bed." She had a troubled look on her face, but I was too tired to say anything. I just nodded my head, said goodnight to everyone, and went to my room.
                                       ---------------
I had another dream, but this one was different. I was on Mount Olympus in the throne room. I don't know how, but I could tell this had happened a long time ago, around the time I was born. It must have been December, because it was snowing below me in New York.
All twelve Olympian gods were there, except for Zeus, which was odd. Poseidon and Athena seemed to be leading the meeting. They weren't arguing, which was weird.
"We can't let Zeus know what we're doing. He would never allow it, and my granddaughter would be in grave danger." Athena was saying.
"Our granddaughter, Athena." Poseidon grumbled.
"Fine. Our granddaughter. Now let's get on with our plan. The next Great Prophecy tells about a second generation demigod who needs special powers so she can save us and the world. The prophecy tells of a descendent of Poseidon and myself. Since Poseidon doesn't have any other grandchild, it must be Melody. The prophecy says that it will come true in the next twenty years. Melody was just born a few weeks ago, right after the prophecy was first spoken-"
"So it must be her." Poseidon interrupted.
"Seriously? You just had to interrupt me?"
"Well, I was getting bored just listening to you drone on and-"
"Oh, I'm boring?! Have you ever listened to yourself speak?"
"Why yes, yes I have and I'm-"
"Um, sorry to interrupt, but don't we need to get on with the whole Great Prophecy thing before Zeus realizes that we tricked him, and he returns? Just saying." Apollo interrupted, before things got out of hand.
"Apollo is correct." Athena admitted, "We must hurry. Now, Melody needs a gift from each of us to help her along the way. She will also need some friends to help her, but they don't need to be here for that. Percy and Annabeth have already agreed to this. I will call them in and every one of us shall give her a gift. Got it?"
Everyone mumbled their agreement, and Percy and Annabeth walked in, Annabeth holding Melody. They looked nervous, like they weren't sure if they were doing the right thing, but knew they couldn't back out now. Annabeth looked around the room and when she saw Hera, she quickly looked away, like she didn't want to draw attention to herself.
Poseidon and Athena shrank to human size and approached them. Percy seemed to be relived, now that Poseidon was coming to them.
"You know what must happen?" Athena asked.
Percy and Annabeth nodded. "We're ready." Annabeth said and handed Melody to Athena.
"Everyone shrink to human size. One by one come and give Melody your gift." Poseidon said.
All the gods shrank down and came to Melody.
"I'll go first," Poseidon said. He put his hand on Melody's head and said, "I bestow upon you, the gift of power over all water, all power over horses, and the power to create earthquakes."
"My turn." Athena said, "Melody Ann Jackson, I bestow upon you the gift of wisdom, warfare, battle stragity, and crafts."
The other gods followed their example and gifted Melody. Artemis gave her the power of archery, Apollo gave the power of music and visions, Hermes gave the power of thieving (which Percy and Annabeth were not happy about), Aphrodite gave the power of charmspeak (when she needed it), Hephaestus gave the power of building things and fire, Diyonous gave the power of growing different plants, Demeter gave the power of growing different crops (which was kind of the same thing as Diynous' gift), Hestia gave the power of a warm and welcoming nature, even Ares gave the power of skill with all weapons, and Hades gave the power of control over jewels and riches.
"It is done." Athena stated, "Now, Poseidon and I will take Percy and Annabeth back to New Rome. The rest of you need to leave before Zeus gets back. Thank you all. It was not in vain. This child will save us, some day."
Then my dream went black and I woke up.
