The door that was behind Patrick opened, but before Patrick could turn around to see who had entered the room, a familiar voice filled the silence.
"Sorry that took so long... I got lost"
"That's fine" Shonda said
Patrick was pretty sure his heart had stopped beating for a few seconds. He didn't know what to do. He knew exactly who that voice belonged to, their was no way he would ever forget it. Even if she had just said a few words to him, Patrick new it was the woman that he had run into on his run in the park. The woman who had not left his mind for a week. He turned his head to see those green grey eyes staring at him, and a smile broke out onto his face. He couldn't believe it.
Ellen's POV
Ellen Loved being able to help choose who she was going to be in a relationship with on the show, but she hated it at the same time. She honestly didn't like any of her options. No one who had auditioned for the part had stood out to her in a good or bad way. But when the next guy who was auditioning came and sat down next to her she immediately knew she didn't want to have to be forced to kiss him! Just the way he looked at her gave her a strange, unsettling feeling. After he read and gave a some what adequate performance Shonda and Betsy discussed what they thought of him and how he would fit into the role. Ellen, Betsy, and Shonda all agreed that Isaiah wasn't right for the part of Derek but maybe a different role. Witch was a huge relief for Ellen because she didn't relay like the idea of him playing Derek. Every time she thought about the way Shonda wrote Derek Ellen thought about the man that she had run into in the park. She didn't know why but the thought of him playing Derek warmed her heart.
Ellen needed to take a break so she stepped out in the hallway to get some water and go to the bathroom. Before she left Shonda reminded her that they were only going till 3 and that they only had one more person for the day.
Once Ellen finally made it back to the room, after getting lost going down the wrong hallway, the last man was already sitting down talking to Shonda. But something felt familiar about him. She heard him say something to Shonda, but she was to lost in thought trying to figure out why he felt familiar to make out what he said. Sure she could only see the back of his head, but Ellen knew this man some how she could feel it. Then she spoke to make her presence known as she had entered the room, and no one had noticed her come in.
'Sorry that took so long I...I got lost' Ellen said stuttering. Her heart pounding. Then Shonda said something but Ellen didn't care to listen. She just quickly went and sat down beside the man auditioning. When he finally turned to look at her Ellen's Heart skipped a beat! It was the man form the park. She couldn't believe it! She didn't know weather to be excited or afraid. She didn't even know this guy, yet he was constantly on her mind, and she had an oddly strong connection to him. Like she could tell him anything and he would listen. Not to mention his gorgeous hair with those piercing blue eyes, and his magic smile. Ellen was memorized by her own thoughts. But she was quickly pulled out of them by Shonda telling them to introduce themselves. Right away Shonda and Betsy knew that they had a connection. Because the smiles on both of their faces was like nothing they had seen before.
Ellen broke the silence. Looking into his blue eyes, with the biggest smile on her face Ellen extended her had and said...'Hi...I'm Ellen Pompeo, and I will be playing Meredith Grey.
Patrick's POV
Patrick couldn't believe this. The woman he had thought about everyday since he saw her was in this room with him. That's when he knew that he absolutely had to get this part. He wanted to be friends with this woman and see her everyday. Patrick was pulled from his thoughts by Shonda saying to introduce themselves. He had forgotten Shonda and Betsy were even in the room. He was just so consumed by her.
Then the woman extended her had and said "Hi...I'm Ellen Pompeo, and I will be playing Meredith Grey."
Patrick immediately took her had in his. Her hands were soft and small, but she had a firm had shake, and that's how Patrick knew she was tougher than she looked. Looking directly into her eyes Patrick said, 'Hi I'm Patrick Dempsey, and I...well I hope to be playing Derek Shepherd.
Patrick didn't want to let go of Ellen's hand, but it would be weird if he held on to long so he did. Shonda and Betsy then told them both to start the read. The whole time Patrick was saying his lines he was hoping he wouldn't slip up. Patrick has Dyslexia and Shonda was watching him like a hawk.
Ellen's POV
After the read was over Shonda and Betsy thanked Patrick and told him like every other person who auditioned that they would call tonight and let him know if he got the part. He smiled and thanked them. Then stood up and walked out the door.
Ellen then did something she was not expecting her self to do. 'I'll be right back' Ellen said and stood up and walked out the door before Shonda and Betsy could say anything. She could see Patrick just turning the corner of the hallway, and she quickly walked to catch up to him. She didn't know why she was doing this but she just felt the need to talk to Patrick without Shonda and Betsy watching his every move.
'Hey' she said a little out of breath.
He turned around immediately when he saw her the brightest smile Ellen had ever seen spread across his face.
"Hi!" Patrick said.
' You did good in their.' Ellen said not knowing what to say. She knew she wanted to talk to him alone but she had not thought past that. She didn't really have anything planned to say, this being the result.
"Thanks...ok so I have a question?" Patrick asked while putting his hands in the pockets of his jeans.
'Shoot' Ellen said wanting him to keep talking.
"Does Shonda hate me because she was staring at me the whole time, and if she hates me theirs no way I'm going to get this part, and I really need this part, and..." Patrick said rambling on when Ellen finally cut him off.
'Patrick...'
"Yeah?" He said as he stopped and looked into Ellen's eyes.
Ellen's heart was racing. 'If she doesn't like you, I don't know why, because you are perfect for this role. You were the only person today that I actually wanted to get the part." immediately blushing. Ellen was discreetly trying to show Patrick that he was the best man for the part, but she was not doing it very discreetly.
"Thanks" Patrick said softly. Dropping his gaze to the ground and smiling.
'Yeah...you were great...ok well I should probably go back in their.'
"Yeah. Hey wait can I get your number so I can tell you if got the part or not?"
'You know I'll know before you know if you get the part right.' Ellen said with a giggle.
"Well then you can tell me if I got the part."
'Fine' Ellen said while exchanging phones with Patrick so they could both put their numbers in.
After Ellen handed Patrick his phone back and vice versa they stood their for a few seconds in the hallway looking into each others eyes.
Ellen's heart was racing "It was nice meeting you again Ellen Pompeo" Patrick said.
'It was nice meeting you again Patrick Dempsey."Something about Patrick saying her first and last name made her heart skip a beet and her stomach flutter.
After that Patrick left the studio and Ellen headed back to the room where Shonda and Betsy were.
