The song sung for her

Another night of beatings, and reopening wounds; I sat at the dinning table, sitting across from Mother Mary. She watched me slowly pick at the roast beef with chunks of carrotts and potato, all sitting atop a pile of white rice. My ears were feeling itchy from being stuck under my beanie all day; I could feel Mary's warm and sympathetic gaze locked onto me.

With my mind off in the cosmos, I barely felt the soft touch of silky compassion that was Mother Mary's hand. Slowly, I lifted my head, my purple orbs giving her a look of confusion and alertness. "You are very strong, my dear," her voice was softer than anything i had ever heard before. Surely she knew as well as I that if Mother Teresa would dare hear such words of praise, we would both dearly pay. "It is a wonder of how you are alive."

"The strongest of the flock can endure anything this world may throw," the words just flew out of my lips but...they weren't mine. I mean, the voice was but I would have never thought of such. Mother Mary simply smiles at me and gave my hand a squeeze. "The secrets you hold, you are a wonder. I am very proud of you."

I could only nod in response.

Later on that night, I lay sound asleep in the calm of the night; my ears and tail exposed. But something was tugging at me. My ears ferociously twitched, begging my mind to awake. The wind was singing a song that only my profound hearing could pick up on.

Soon, my mind could not resist the call and my eyes slowly opened. Sitting up, I streched and looked around.

Angel lay in bed, fast asleep. Popping my neck, I rose from my dead slumber, tucked my tail in and slipped my beanie over my ears and walked outside. I have heard this song before....it is the same one I had heard when I took that stroll through the woods. But now it was accompanied by the sound of a guitar, beautifully strung in the silence of the night.

Looking around in the woods, hearing the call, I could finally feel free.

Walking around, i found an area where the trees made  complete circle and I sat down and slowly began to sing along to the soothing song. But as I did so, words kisses at my ears. "Welcome my child," the voice echoed in my brain as my ears perceived it. "Don't you fear, you are safe here."

"I don't fear you....i trust you," I said in my mind as I continued to sing.

"Good, very.....good. You are hurt my child. Why don't you come home?"

"I seek home"

"Then, you know what you must do."

"But..after I....how will I...where will i...."

"Shh. My child, shh. Everything will play out in perfect precision. And I will make sure you get back home before they notice...just relax and feel free."

Something touched my forehead, and I began laughing, now realizing that my time was coming up.
