Chapter 3: Summer Means Pool Time

About an hour later we placed our shoes by the front door and walked inside my home. The cold floor immediately cooled our bodies down from the 90 degree weather outside. Looking around my house there was the familiar living room that had a rug under my couches and a flat screen TV across from the coffee table. A sliding glass door lead to my backyard. To the left of my TV room, there was the den where a computer sat and a lot of library books on shelfs to fill the room. There was also a bean bag chair and an open window. Past the living room was a hallway that lead to a guest bedroom, bathroom, and a laundry room. To the right of the front door and living room, my kitchen and dining room had its place and another room for more of a party dining room.

After dropping off our shoes we walked into the kitchen where my mom was making us a snack. We sat down at the island and she handed us some fresh squeezed lemonade. We gulped and chatted, "what movie do you guys want to watch?" Bri said. "Maybe hmm... comedy?" Maddie answered, "Yeah! I'm feeling that way too so we can start off the summer with a funny movie!" Mom says, "Alright the food will be ready in 5 minutes, why don't you guys get in bathing suits and swim after?" "Okay sounds good!" We all chimed in together.

Walking up the carpeted stairs my besties followed until we got into my room. Everyone's room was upstairs. My room was white walled and a bathroom connected. My bed was a full and it had baby blue sheets and comforter. I had a blanket on the end that was white and throw pillows that made my bed more comfy. They were blues and whites with a grey horse on one of them. The carpeted room had a sliding closet with my clothes. They had to be coordinated from short sleeved to long with a whole section for just horseback riding that took up half of my closet. I had a desk that was wood with a soft blue chair. My desk had my computer, pencils in a holder, paper organizer, chapstick, a candle, and any other thing you would expect to see on a desk. I had windows in my room of course to let in light. I love natural light. There is also a book shelf that contained many books and a TV across from my bed with a dresser under it. I had many pictures up of Abba Zabba as well.

Walking in we set our things down and I hung my backpack up. I thought to myself, "won't be needing this for the rest of the summer!" I started taking off my socks and so did Maddie and Brittney. "Oh my gosh guys! A way to detox from this whole school year is to do facials, massages, and nails done! We should go somewhere after swimming!" I said. "That is the greatest idea Chlo, where do you get all of these?" Maddie said smirking at me. Brittney added, "I know the best place! Let's swim and head over there!" We all changed and walked down to the laundry room to grab sunscreen. I do burn sometimes so I always put sunscreen on, and my friends followed doing the same.

After we walked to my kitchen again to see a watermelon and some smoothies. Sitting down we took sips of the smoothie. I giggled as my friends made mustaches out of their drinks and made funny voices. "Okay okay" I said between laughs, "I'm going to choke! You guys!" As my dad walks in my voice totally changes to super sweet, "Dad...could we go pretty please to the salon later to get our nails done and massages?" "Hmm.." he answers. "Please we want to be relaxed from stress from all the school work." I respond back looking at my friends as we all make faces to him. We have all been so close that my parents don't think of them as being rude. "Well I don't see how you have stress at this age girls! But alright. You guys deserve it!" He says as he gives in. "Go swim and let me know when your ready I'll be in the office." "Alright love you thank you!" I call to him. Giggling we head out to the pool.

The summer breeze hits us and makes it a little less hot. I go to the shed to grab some floaties and pool toys. As I throw them in the pool I don't wait I just dive in. I hold my breath and stay under water letting the water surround me and wash all my worries from my day at school all disappear. I feel my lungs starting to burn and make my way to the surface of the water. Gasping for air I feel finally that it is summer.

Maddie does the same but Brittany slowly gets on a toy and doesn't get wet. Maddie and I immediately swim over and flip her floaty so she falls in. As she screeches we all laugh letting the warm pool water surround us. "You guys! Omg!" Brittany says as she makes a straight face. "I am never talking to either of you again!" But her straight face breaks and she starts laughing hysterically. We all laugh together. "I'm assuming you guys wanted towels and your smoothies?" My mom comes out of the house saying. "Ooh yes!" Maddie answers. We all get on the floaties with cup holders and place our half drinken smoothies. As we sip away Brittany and I look over at each other and I decide to bring up the topic, "so..Maddie spill the tea! What is going on with you and Ryan!?" Her cheeks immediately began to get red and she looks away. "Ugh you guys! Nothing and I mean nothing is going on I like him and that's it. He doesn't like me." "How would you even know?" Brittany asks. "I just know trust me he's cute and that's as far as it goes. I mean he is super sweet too.. and his eyes..." Maddie stops as she realizes we are starring at her. "Ooooooh you totally like him! Mads this is great! We will help you with everything you do with him!" Brittany says as she clasps her hands together. Maddie answers, "okay okay I like him, so what? But like I said he doesn't like me." "Oh come on Maddie you are gorgeous of course he likes you. You'll see you will get a text from him soon I bet!" I say to her. "Maddie has a crushh Maddie has a crushh!"Brittany chants. Mads splashes her saying, "keep it down! What if he is listening!" In a whispering tone we both say, "Maddie has a crushh Maddie has a crushh!" And with that our night only began.
