I sat there across from Quintin at the huge dinning room table. We all sat in silence quietly eating the meal that Mason had ready for me and my friends to eat. It would be a lie if I said I wasn't hungry, but my mind was still spinning with all the new information I had gathered from the past two hours. Especially the news of my brother.
I had questions that needed answers, but I didn't have time to ask them when Mason ushered us all into the dining room to eat. Tegan and Cole didn't mind at all since I was sure that they were hungry.
You see, we were having trouble with hunting just the three of us. When we did catch something it was always small. Tegan and Cole had the same issues as I did. Since we all had no idea how to control our wolves when we go full on animal mode.
But, we'll deal with one problem at a time. I played with my food mostly just thinking. I could feel Quentin's eyes on me part of the time and even a few glances from my mother. It was incredibly awkward because of the other strangers sitting there who clearly knew this was an awkward situation or else they would be speaking right now.
"I'm sorry!"
I glance up to see the Alpha's son, Blake, break the silence first. He had set his knife and fork down from his steak as he looked at me and my brother with his cool gray eyes.
"Is no one going to talk about this?" Blake said pointing at me and Quentin with his fork. "Cause this is like really big shocking news isn't it?"
"Blake!" His mom hissed at him and gave my mom an apologetic look.
"It's fine, Amelia." My mom forced a small smile on her face and then turned to me, "Look, Maya, I know this is all new and hard for you right now. But, how did you know his name? Have you two met before?"
"That is an understatement, and I don't want to talk about it. " I mumbled as I flipped over a piece of my salad that I was nibbling on with my fork.
I could feel my mom looking back and forth between me and Quentin.
I glanced up at her, then at the people around us who were pretending not to listen in. Well, everybody except Blake who was glancing at me and Quentin with a raised eyebrow.
"Don't you think we should talk about this in private?" I mumbled glancing back at my mom and Quentin who just sat there staring at his food.
Finally Quentin spoke, "Actually, they already knew you were my sister."
I blinked at him and then at my mom who didn't seem surprised. Which meant she knew that everyone else knew too. So once again the only person who didn't know was me.
Well, Cole and Tegan didn't know either, but that's different.
"Unbelievable." I said as I sat up from my chair and stormed out of the room.
Why am I always the last one to know? This was just like the night at the party. The party that Quentin showed up at, the person who had me go find my stupid boyfriend and catch him cheating. The anger that I had suppressed from that night was starting to rise up again. I would leave this whole house, but I had no idea where I was. How far would I really get?
So I stormed back up to the room I woke up in. I heard my mom call out my name but I didn't want to stop for her. I went into the room immediately and headed straight for the window. I quickly opened it up to feel the cool breeze against my face. I took it in with my eyes closed as I let out a frustrated sigh. I then looked outside.
I was kinda taken back to what I saw. We're in the woods, surrounded by trees. There were other neighboring houses around this one not too far. It looked like a community. There were people outside that looked like they were training. I would assume so, because that would be terrible if they were beating each other up with others casually watching.
