Charlie's POV~
"STOP RIGHT THERE!"
Niall and I freezed in our tracks. The voice seemed oddly familiar somehow but I just couldn't place my finger on it. Niall took my hand and gripped it tightly. Charlie, this is not the time to be blushing and feeling warm inside. Like, we could literally get killed right now.
"When I give you a signal, you will run to that room as fast as you can and look for whatever the fuck it is that we need, okay?" He whispered, his voice barely audible. I was able to shake off enough nerves to nod once, though it was clearly a very frozen nod.
"Wait- what signal?"
"I said turn around before I fire!" The man yelled.
Niall nodded as he fished out a minute stun gun no larger than his palm. I could see from the five neon green bars at the handle that he only had five shots left and I seriously hoped that the man was not a huge man for that would take a lot more shots.
Suddenly, Niall took me by surprise and started flapping his arms around like a wild duck while saying 'Crazy mofo' and quacking sounds, shooting the man (who turned out to be one of the men who chased after me a few days ago as I was escaping).
"Charlie! This is the signal! This is the damn signal!" Niall yelled and I immediately took off to the room and closing the metal door behind me. It was one heavy door. But there isn't a lock and it worried me that someone might try to get in and stop us.
I fumbled around for a long time, trying to locate the light switch before turning around again and bumping into Niall's chest.
"How is he?" I asked as he closed the door behind him.
"Unconscious. Thought he was dead but he's still breathin'." He chuckled before reaching out easily from my sides and pulling a chain that was connected to the bulb overhead. Of course, one move and he solved everything already. Must be the Irish luck.
"Okay, no what are we lookin' for?" He asked.
One clear look around the room and it was evident that it wasn't so long ago that a person had came in here. A cup of steaming Espresso laid on a wooden table in the middle of the vast room beside a plate of store-bought chocolate chip cookies.
The tiles were shiny and it smelled like detergent. Great, even the data room smelled like storage rooms.
Cabinets, metal drawers and numerous shelves lined the whole room- papers, files, boxes and unidentified objects inside Ziplock bags. It was all so mysterious and it took me a while to process the whole scene. So, while I wasted no time in regaining my composure and searching for maps and locations for bombs- Niall had already finished the coffee and was munching on the cookies.
"Really, Niall? Why don't you go use that Irish luck of yours and find the map?" I teased him. He chuckled and started opening box after box, his mouth still munching through the stolen food.
I studied the table as well. Obviously, this particular employee or something hadn't done their job correctly for most of the table was covered with hideous postcards with pictures of a woman with long brown hair and a huge wart on her nose attached to it.
One read: To my beloved Henry for without you my heart would never be able to be repaired, my soul would never be able to rest and my needs would never be able to be satisfied. Every single part of my body longs for you. Including Mini Jennifer ( p.s the one on my face). Love, Jennifer. Hope to see you soon xx
It would take no genius to figure out what Mini Jennifer meant and what the other Mini Jennifer was as well. Ugh, gross. I tossed the postcard back on the table.
