I looked at the silver haired boy waiting for me with his head poking out of the window. He waved at me, grinning and nearly falling. I set aside the feeling of nervousness I had been feeling all the way here, as I saw his usual childishness.
"Yo, Zylen," I said, smiling at him. He disappeared from the window and quickly reappeared at the front door. The door gave a low creak! as it opened. I peered over his shoulder to see the house shrouded in darkness.
Yup, still creepy and suspicious.
Without a warning, Zylen grabbed my hand and started leading me up these old and creaky stairs. Heck, this is one hell of an old and creaky house. Too much creakings.
"This is my first time having a friend over! I'm so excited, Ethan!" Zylen squealed, almost.
Woah, seems as if he's more excited than me. And, I don't know if that's a good or bad thing... My gut tells me that it swings more to the bad side...
Wait... No, no, no. He won't be up to some freaky shit again. Oh no, he shouldn't. This is his first time having a friend over so he probably wouldn't. So I shouldn't suspect too much either, should I?
We soon reached the top of the stairs revealing a door to a room. Well, his room. This door opened with a friggin' creak as well.
I want to describe about organs and creatures stored in jars, all sorts of operational instruments and chemicals, and lastly a dissection table with blood smeared all over it... But to my surprise, his room was completely like a normal boy's room.
This is about the second time I found something normal about him, which relieved me.
"So you are normal," I laughed a little, teasingly.
"Hey, that's mean," he pouted. Placing my bag on the study table, I started observing the room. Like usual, as soon as I got lost into something, I failed to notice the look that my eye-patched friend gave me.
Just like that, the both of us talked and did goofy things, with me occasionally getting creeped out by Zylen and some of his childish whinings now and then. How the time passed, I had no idea.
Like that, our topic was directed towards our dreams. More like, his 'cause I had no dreams to talk about and I was more interested In Zylen's.
"When you become a scientist, what do you want to do? Rather, what does scientists even do?" I asked him, a dumbstruck expression on my face.
"Well... I want to do something that the Redmond are afraid of doing. I want to be able to achieve that," he grinned.
Okay. What the hell is this something, that the Redmond can't do...? I started getting that bad feeling again.
"Uh... So, what exactly is it, that you wanna do?"
He grinned.
"You'll find out soon enough~"
I punched him lightly on the arm and laughed nervously, "Yeah right...!"
He was right. I was about to find out soon. Very soon.
I let my thoughts wander as awkward silence followed afterwards. I suddenly remembered the look on Zylen's face the night before. The veins and his eyes... And lastly, the couple inside the black car. Were they his parents?
"Zylen... Um, the night before... Who were those inside the car...?"
I nervously fidgeted my fingers and averted my eyes from his. I didn't dare to look back at him, nervous of what he might do.
I neither heard nor felt a response. Cautiously, I peeked at the silverette.
His bangs fell over his left eye, the other staring at me, dull and blank. The grin from before still etched to his face.
"Guess what~? They are the Redmonds~"
"My parents."
My ears tingled. Wh-what!?
