What is he doing here?

When Niall finally sits down, he turns around to talk with me.

"Okay class!" Thank god the teacher saved me.

"You guys know that the yearly school play is coming back this year and we are going to do 'Romeo and Juliet', so work hard guys and perhaps you will get a role in it! Okay, let's start with today's lesson. I want to stay close to the theme so make couples of two and try to do a short scene of the modern 'Romeo and Juliet'! Any questions? No? Okay. Let's start!"

And yes, I know what you're all expecting, I know it's obvious.. Niall came to me.

"Hey Lau! Shall we make a couple?" He says while taking my hand. The touch of our hands is making me feel weird. A couple?

"Eh, oh. For the scene? Oh eh yeah, okay." Why doesn't my brain work good right now.

"But Niall.." I start. "Why are you here? You have science now, haven't you?" Like the whole school knows that Niall is that kid who is popular and good at science (happens almost never).

"Oh yes. But yeah.. I was already in the seventh chapter and the others were only in the third, so I had to take another class until they are finished."

"Oh, okay. You must be smart then." I say looking at the ground.

"What shall we do?" His hand graps my wrist.

"I, I don't know." This situation is going to turn so awkward.

"Well.. Shall we do.." But before he could say it, the teacher was coming to us.

"Niall, Isn't it great! You changed a subject were you're so good at for drama. I bet you could be a great actor!"

I look up at Niall. Did he lie? Niall sees what I'm thinking and comes closer and whispers "I didn't lie.. I was just afraid that people would call me gay.."

"Gay?"

"Yes, gay, you know what it is?"

"Yes, yes, but why would people say that?"

"Never mind. Let's focus on this."

But before we could start the teacher shouted "Switch couples!"

"Bye.."

When class is over, we walk out of the class together, but when his friends walk towards to him. He walks straight away from me. Does he feel embarrassed with me? Am I so ugly? Am I so stupid? Did I say something wrong?
