⌞ Vincent's POV ⌝
I gave her a lopsided smile leaning so close to her our lips were only inches apart. I stared into her eyes pretending to study them.
She was always extremely easy to read. She had this horrible habit of glancing at whatever she was thinking of if I stared at her for too long. Really something that made her absolutely pathetic at I-Spy.
I could see how anxious she was getting, fighting the urge to look with all of her willpower. She couldn't even sit still in her seat.
Finally she broke, her hazel orbs darting over to some guy sitting a few tables away before snapping back to my own just as quickly as they left.
The serious expression I had been using to stare her down crumbled into a smile as I turned in my chair to face where she had looked. The smile faded away quickly as I laid eyes on the guy she had been looking at, finally taking in what had been on her mind.
I could feel my heart race at the thought of this stranger taking V away from me. She'd only looked at him and blushed a little and I was already feeling sick to my stomach.
He had dark hair and looked to be fairly tall and muscular. Now of course I wouldn't go as far as to say he was attractive, but by the way V was eyeing him it was clear she felt some sort of attraction.
She knew she had lost the mind reading battle, but she was so caught up in her day dreams she hadn't even cared I'd figured out what she was thinking. I had to stop this.
Without even thinking about what I was saying I blurted something out to try to at least take her eyes away from him. "He looks like he could be your brother, V."
She finally looked to me giving me this strong look of disapproval, "No! He... doesn't.." she protested, her words becoming a bit more hesitant and quieter towards the end of her claim as she furrowed her eyebrows in thought.
That hesitation in her protest took some weight off of my chest. She was second guessing herself, thinking about how much they really looked alike, even probably seeing him as sibling-like now that I had brought it up. I had to continue to feed into it.
I pursed my lips giving her a pointed look as I put emphasis on my comparison between the two, nodding as if I were finding oh so many things that made them look related when really they didn't look anything close to that of siblings.
My voiceless critique worked flawlessly and before I could even finish my exaggeration she waved her hand in the air as if swatting away flies and admitted defeat. "You're right, we do look too much like siblings."
I smiled content with her new outlook on the dark haired stranger and continued to eat my burger. I took a long look at Venus feeling a bit more selfish than usual.
Venus had dark brown, thick, curly hair; so dark it almost looked black in certain lights. It was usually curly but today she'd straightened it making it longer than usual.
She had hazel green eyes that reminded me of a forest, but paler. I had decided a long time ago that her eyes were the most beautiful I'd ever seen.
She was 5"4. Short but cute. Strong willed and stubborn; but kind, caring, and rebellious all at the same time. She was also one of the laziest girls I'd ever met, something most may consider to be a downfall but something I really loved about her.
Her favorite thing to do was lay around all day and do nothing but play video games or watch TV. Somehow she is both lazy and adventurous. Almost to a bi-polar level.
