Everything was going great, me and my mum just moved to Seattle and I got accepted at Green Gate university one of the best schools out there. At first I wasn't too keen on the idea of leaving my friends and home behind but I knew I'd be grateful for the opportunity in the end.Today was my first day at the university and to be honest I was really nervous, what if I didn't fit in?, what if nobody liked me? However for the moment I knew the only thing that mattered was getting to my lectures on time and making a good first impression.
As I walked into my English Literature lesson I scanned the room to look for an empty seat, that's when I noticed the empty seat in the third row. As I sat down I turned to look at the girl sitting next to me, she had long blonde hair, she wore a black pencil skirt, navy blue blouse and a black and white stripy blazer.
Just as I was about to introduce myself she swung herself around to face me and held out her hand for me to shake. "Hi, my name is Crystal nice to meet you", she had a soft flow in her words and spoke with a very welcoming tone. Crystal had started a whole semester before me as did everyone else since I had only just moved here.
"Hi, my name is Scarlett, I hope you don't mind me sitting here". Crystal assured me that she actually very pleased I chose to sit next to her because she said she had some trouble with her old friends and felt like starting fresh.
The next few hours seemed to fly by and I found myself sat opposite Crystal in the campus cafeteria enjoying some pasta. Even though Crystal and I had only met earlier this morning I felt we had known each other for ever. We shared stories of our childhood and how we'd dreamed of growing up to become the independent woman that we like to think we are. Crystal was definitely going to make my life at university a whole lot more exciting.
Just as me and Crystal are leaving the cafeteria I happened to notice one of the most cliche friendship groups any teenager has ever seen. The queen bee as she liked to refer to herself as was called Maddison and her two sidekicks were called Jessica and Natalie and as you know every queen bee has a jock wrapped round her little finger. His name was Matt, he had brown wavy hair, the most incredible shade of blue eyes and of course abs to die for.
My reasoning for knowing all this information on just my first day is because Crystal was the schools journalist, she wrote about all the schools latest gossip and upcoming events.
It was finally over, school was finished for the day and I was looking forward to going home. As I walked through the door I scrambled over some of the empty cardboard boxes that were left from when we unpacked and made my way to the kitchen. I opened the cupboard door and reached for the snack bars on the top shelf and walked back through to the living room. That's where I found my mum sitting on the couch filling out some documents for her new job as an editor for a local law firm. My mum was such a hard worker she always tried to make me as happy as she could and she always wanted what was best for me. This was was because my dad wasn't around anymore and she didn't want me feeling like I was missing out.
My dad died when I was nine and we were super close so it tore me apart when he passed away. Since then it's just been me and my mum and we always look out for one another.
