Phil POV.

Phil was constantly filled with confusion. His best friend Dan had completely changed and no matter how much Phil tried to help or comfort him, all he got from Dan was a glare or being yelled at to leave him alone.
Phil was sitting on the couch, watching 'Beauty and the Beast' which was playing in the TV, one of his and Dans' favourite movies to watch, well, when Dan used to actually come out of his room.
Phil looked up to the clock, 2.26pm and Dan still hadn't come out of his room for any food. Phil let out a huff and slowly made his way to Dans door, lightly tapping on it.
"Dan, it's getting a bit late, do you want some food?"
No answer.
Phil used to get frustrated when Dan wouldn't answer, but he was used to it by now.

It had been two weeks of this behaviour coming from Dan so instead of getting man at him, Phil just left him alone. Ever since Dan went out for a walk that one night to get some bread since they ran out, he came back a completely different person.

Phil remembered that night clearly as he was terrified for the safety of Dan as he had been out for so long. He felt sick to his stomach because Dan had left over 3 hours ago to get bread but hadn't come back and it was getting really late. He wouldn't pick up his phone and he had walked which made Phil even more fearful. Eventually though, Dan did return, but the Dan that left the house was not the same as the one who entered the house. Sure, it was defiantly still dan externally, but internally he was different, completely different. He didn't say a word as he walked in with his black hoodie pulled over his head, covering his face and went straight to the bathroom, locking the door and showered. Phil was confused, why did he take so long? He didn't even bring home bread?
But that was the night that everything changed, and Phil still had no idea what could of happened.

Phil still stood behind Dans door, hoping that he would open it up and give him a hug. Dan always gave the best hugs, they always made Phil feel warm, but no. The door remained closed and Phil remained stood in front of it. He pressed his ear to the door only to hear some muffled sobs coming from the other side. That also happened often. Phil would hear Dan crying, most times muffled by his attempts to stay quiet. Phil used to ask to come in when he heard Dans muffled cries, but Dan never let him in so Phil eventually stopped asking. Today however, Phil thought to try one more time.

"D-Dan, are you ok? I can hear you crying, please let me in I might be able to help"
The crying stopped for a second, and Dan sniffed. Phil hoped that maybe this time he might be let in.

"G-Go aw-away"

Phil frowned, not surprised at the answer but still disappointed. He took a deep breath and walked away as he was told.
'At least he didn't yell at me today' Phil thought to himself as he sat back down on the couch. Dan only came out of his room occasionally and that really worried Phil. All Phil wanted was to have the old Dan back, the one full of sarcasm and would make terrible jokes and inappropriate innuendos. But also the Dan who Phil had fallen in love with. Dan didn't know, of course, but Phil has been in love with the boy locked away from the world since the moment they met all those years ago.
