A pair of Adidas trainers dangle dangerously close to my head as I continue packing the last of my belongings into my suitcase.

"You really should have done this yesterday," Saf complains, from where she has draped herself over my bed. "I could have been on a plane to Boston right now but no, Audrey decides to leave packing till the last day which means I can't leave because our room hasn't been marked off yet."

"Oh would you quite the whining, I'm almost done," I mutter, tugging the zip shut and standing up. Saf had been my roommate for the past year now and although we'd had some great times together, we definitely had our differences.

Summer break had officially started yesterday at Notre Dame University and as Saf had so kindly pointed out, I was procrastinating again. I still couldn't quite comprehend where this year had gone. It feels like just yesterday I had hauled my over flowing suitcase into this room and emptied its contents onto my bed. I smile slightly at the thought of my first week here, I didn't eat anything but granola bars for a week straight because I was too scared to ask where the dining room was.

"Audrey stop sitting there smiling like an idiot and get a wriggle on, I do actually have a plane to catch."

"I know, I know sorry, look that's the last bag now," I say sitting it down by the door and taking in the emptiness of our old room. From this point on I was officially flatting. Me, Saf and a couple other girls from our floor had found a flat a few blocks away and had signed the lease immediately.

"Right well I'm off then," Saf says, "don't forget to lock up Aud's, I'll see you in September." She pulls me into quick hug before gathering up her stuff and tumbling out the door.

"Bye," I call quietly after her. I take my time collecting my own belongings before I close the door to room 115 and lock it for the final time. I drop the keys into the office and cross my name off the list. Walking outside I relax into the early afternoon sunlight, a silver Ute parked across the street flashes its lights at me and I grin.

"Hey you," I smirk, throwing my luggage into the deck and climbing into the passenger seat. A mop of brown hair and bright blue eyes great me.

"I was contemplating whether I would have had time to get lunch before you showed up," they say, grinning at me.

"And?" I question.

"I would have," they say simply, before putting on a pair of shades and turning on the radio.

"Austin," I whine, "just drive."
