Fallen Tears

Happy place

She sat alone at the table with her eyes red from crying. Her husband told her that he was heading to the military and she thought he'd come home. The little girl walked into the room slowly with a frown "mommy?.." She said tugging on the woman's shirt, she turned to the girl and smiles softly wiping away the tears "yes dear?" She said in a hushed tone. "Where's daddy?..." She said looking down "Tomorrow is my recital...he promised he'd come..", as the woman heard this she began to tear up "he won't be able to go...he is in a better place and we won't see him for a while..but the place he went to is very happy." She said in response. The little girl nodded and walked off. Later the next day the mother came home to a note that read "Don't be sad mommy, I went to the Happy place with daddy." As she read this a scream escaped her throat, she saw blood coming out from beneath her bedroom door.
