The world is divided into war. War between the Flame, people of fire, and the Frost, people of ice. The two groups are never allowed to mix, much less breed together. It's a crime punisable by death, for the parents and the child. But, Beth has managed to stay alive for seventeen years, despite being a Frost-Flame. What kept her going?
