I picked up my jacket and slipped my arms through the sleeves, shivering as the cold fabric was pressed against my already freezing skin. I was usually not too bad with the cold, but I was up in Canada visiting my pal, Mitch. As I walked out of my little guest room in Mitch's house, I grabbed a hat and put it on, not caring which one it was. Heck, if anyone would criticize something I was wearing, it would be my shirt with two blocky characters on it. One was a big fluffy Chewbacca creature with a suit and tie, and the other was a boy with a checkered hoodie, light brown hair, and a golden dog tag. They both had large grins on their faces, the words 'Benj 'N Bac' scrawled above them. It was some of my new merch for my YouTube channel, JeromeASF. I was the Chewbacca, or the 'Bacca', and Mitch was the boy in the checkered hoodie. His channel is TheBajanCanadian.

I stepped out into the cold morning air, immediately wishing I had brought a thicker jacket with me. Either that or I hadn't come out so early, but Mitch had insisted that we hike on this cool trail and vlog it early. He said that's when it's the most fun. To be honest, I don't know how anything could be considered fun in this weather. I just wanted to run inside, curl up in bed with some hot chocolate, and watch a movie. But nope, I have to go hiking! Ugh. Thanks Mitch.

I grabbed my phone, about to call Mitch, when I see him sitting on a park bench. He turns and sees me, a smile spreading across his face.

"Hey, sleepy head! Finally decide to join me?" He asked with a goofy sideways grin. I smiled back and lightly punched his shoulder.

"I would really rather not be out here in the cold, so it took me a while! You better be happy." I shot back. He chuckled, his breath puffing from his mouth in a cloud of vapor.

"Don't worry, I'm glad. And you will be too. This place is pretty cool in the morning. You won't even mind the cold!" I rolled my eyes.

"I very highly doubt that."

"Are you doubting me?"

"No, I'm doubting your logic. It's about as trustworthy as Mitch Time." I gave him a grin to go along with my statement. He shot me a playful glare before nodding for me to follow him into the woods.

"C'mon gee. Let's get there before you freeze your booty off!" I laughed and ran after my best friend since fourth grade.

We stopped running very soon into the hike, seeing as the path had many twists and turns scattered about it. Mitch climbed a steep hill agilely before me, then signaled me to stop just before I began my climb. He bent down and winced as he grabbed some well hidden barbed wire, tossing it to the side, then waved his hand for me to come on up. I grabbed onto a tree root and pulled on it, attempting to haul myself up. However, my hands slipped and I began to fall. Everything went in slow motion as Mitch gasped and tried to grab me, but missed. I was falling straight back, and something-or someone, if I may-pushed me back into my climbing position. I twisted around to look for my hero, but saw no trace that anyone had even been behind me. I scratched my head and looked at Mitch who was just as perplexed as I was. His eyes met mine and he shrugged, pulling me up. We kept walking, occasionally cracking jokes and stopping to vlog us doing absolutely nothing in the middle of the woods. Yet no matter what, I couldn't keep my mind off of what had happened back there. That wasn't normal. It just wasn't. I shook my head to clear my thoughts, and when I opened them, I gasped.

In the woods with a small white bird in her palm, was the most beautiful girl I've ever seen. Her fiery red hair flowed down to her waist, and her pale skin complimented her bright blue eyes perfectly. She was smiling brightly at the bundle of white fluffy feathers in her hand, showing off her dazzlingly shimmering white teeth. As the bird let out a tweet, she threw her head back in a laugh, as if communicating with the creature. Her laugh rang through the forest, rattling my thoughts in my head and putting them into a whirlwind of emotions. When her sing-song laugh ceased, I longed for it's beautiful sound to come once more. I found myself letting out a small whimper of sadness when she didn't laugh again.

"Jerome!" Mitch's voice called through the clouds of thoughts that wouldn't leave my brain. I turned to him with a grunt.

"What?" I asked grumpily. He looked puzzled at my tone.

"What's wrong biggums?"

"Nothing. What made you think something was wrong?"

"The fact that you've been staring into space for about 15 minutes gave something away." Mitch raised an eyebrow.

"If you must know, I was staring at he-" I turned to point at the angelic girl, but she was gone. She left no trace of her ever being there. The white bird was gone, too. I just stood there, opening and closing my mouth in disbelief.

"You alright?" Mitch asked once more, sounding urgent thing time.

"But... But she was just there..." I whispered sadly. She was gone. But how had he not seen her?

"Who?"

"You didn't see her?"

"If I had, would I be asking who? Dood, no one goes on this path. There was no one there."

"But I swear-"

"Jerome, come on. Let's go now." He huffed in annoyance. I knew she had been there, and I would prove it. I would find her again. Mystery girl, Jerome is going to find you. Don't worry.

AN: So! New story! I'm actually really excited about this one, and I hope you are too! I thought it was a pretty cool and kinda original idea, and I've been wanting to make a Jerome fanfic for a while. It won't be too much YouTube stuff really, but it'll still include some. :) As always, if you enjoyed, slaapppp dat vote button witchya forehead! And... Bye!
