        A Mirror.

The first thing I do when I wake up, is making sure I make myself presentable. I look into the mirror and find that my green eyes are unbelievably pale this morning. Almost like celery or the leaf of a corn stalk. My stomach rumbles, thinking of food make sme hungry.

I stand in front of the mirror, frowning as I put my hair into a low bun. My sector instructs it's citizens to look a certain way. Low bun, two colours, no makeup. I'm trapped in a cave of orders and rules. I pick out the clothes that suit me best, because today is the ceremony, today is where all the decisions take place. I pick out grey faded jeans and a sleeveless black shirt that goes up to my neck.

After today, I'll have to move out of my family home and leave my parents. It's not so bad, I think to myself. It's not like I'll never see them again. They'll be certain days, visiting days every year in which children can reconnect with their parents. Though, I feel ashamed that a part of me feels relieved, feels happy that I'll be leaving. I can be free, away from the orderers. I can be myself without any judgment.

There are five sectors in total, five choices I can make. Only the fair eyes are welcome. Ursus, the bear. There you are free to do anything, to test your bravery and strength. They stand for courage. Anguis, the snake are the inquirers. The most knowledgable of all sectors. They are cunning. Next is Equus, the horse. The most sensitive and calm sectors. They stand for kindness. Then my sector, Leo. They follow the lion, strict and commanding. They stand for order. Which is something I couldn't do, I can't obey a command without true reason.

The last, is Accipiter, which translates to the hawk.  A sector filled with wanderlust and exploration. They stand for adventure.

Then there's the outer lines. Corvus, the raven. They live on the outside, because they too are outisders. They are the dark eyes. The dark eyes are not worthy of sectors, the fair eyed think of them as dirty slaves, pets at the least. And so the fair eyed use them as such, once you are of sixteen the proper age you will be assigned a pet. Some pets will live in sectors with their master, only if their master will agree to it.

And today is the day I will be assigned a dark eyed.

I will be asisigned a pet.
