“Khara,” Enobaria snapped. My head jerked to meet her annoyed face. “Can you please explain why you have been staring at Coeden for the past ten minutes and not listening to a word I say?”

I made a face. She made it sound as if I was staring at Coeden like he was my knight in shining armour, when in fact; he was the first on my kill list for being the most egoistical jerk in the world.

Coeden smirked as Enobaria reprimanded me and I returned with a glare more heated than the ones I had been giving him the past ten minutes. If it were anyone else but him, they would have withered under that laser glare of mine.

   “You’re so dead,” I mouthed.

He rolled his eyes. “As if,” he mouthed back.

   I scowled. “Jerk.”

He just smiled in what I assumed supposed to look innocent but was as convincing as me claiming that I was a unicorn in disguise. He just couldn’t pull it off.

People might be thinking that I’m overreacting, but Coeden did more than steal my first kiss that night. He also pulled the oldest trick in the book this morning. The one involving a feather, a lot of cream, a sleeping person and a very angry Khara with cream on her face when she woke up. It was a pity that he was a faster runner than I was, or he would have gotten a golden opportunity to kiss my fist.

“Are you even listening to me?” Enobaria almost screamed in frustration. She was a great mentor, but she had serious anger management issues.

“Huh?” Her furious gaze bore into me. Okay. Maybe that wasn’t the wisest answer when a throat tearing, victor of the past games looked ready to skin you alive.

Coeden let out a snort of laughter which didn’t help. She turned to him like an enraged lion. I could almost see steam billowing from her nose and ears.

He tried to straighten his face while I tried not to cheer out loud. Finish him off, Enobaria!

Before she could literally blow up in our faces, she seemed to think better of it, then stormed off. We let out a sigh of relief. That was close.

Then the memory of how much I wanted to kill Coeden came back to me. My expression must have been really wicked, because his face went, Uh oh. And before he could react, I was on top of him. I wasn’t really that angry to the point where I wanted to murder him, but was close enough. I wasn’t furious that he had played a practical joke on me and kissed me. It was the fact that he had made me feel and look like a fool.

I knew I couldn’t mess his face up, but that didn’t stop me from landing a few satisfying blows on his abdomen.

“This is for that damn kiss!” Punch. “This is for the whipped cream prank!” Punch. “This is for --” He cut me off at that part as he flipped me over. Now he was the one on top and me at his mercy. It was only a few minutes later when I realised how wrong it would look to anyone coming in that moment with him straddling me, but it wasn’t my first thought when taken by surprise.

He smirked down at me. “Couldn’t wait to get your hands on me the moment we were alone huh? I’m not that irresistible am I?”

I started failing around, yelling, “You little…” All kinds of bad words came streaming out. He winced as my hand somehow managed to connect with the spot I had punched him in. He pinned my arms down before I could do any more damage to his perfect body.

I started screaming bloody murder and he tried to silence me by putting his hand over my mouth, which he withdrew almost immediately as my teeth tried to make contact with it.
