The early morning sky was full of grey while a little colour of pinks, oranges and yellows peaked out from the clouds as the sun slowly started to raise. Ryne opened up his car door and stepped out, slamming it behind him. He approached a random gas station's large glass door and shoved it open, hearing the bell ring throughout the store. He glanced around, observing everything. Little to no people stood in the store, only the clerk behind the counter ready to scan and take your money for the items that were in the aisles. The aisles contained packaged and processed food, many bags of chips and various items. In the back were the refrigerators that held many different types of cold drinks. Ryne was there not for food, but for his morning coffee. He glanced around the store in search of the coffee machines; he saw them in the back. He walked to them, passing by an old lady that was walking towards the clerk with cat food. Typical. Ryne thought as the small, grey haired lady in a soft pink sweater walked past him. As he approached the coffee machines and grabbed a Styrofoam cup, he filled the cup all the way with the black coffee that they only had available. As he was finishing putting the lid on the cup he glanced to his side to see a tall man with light brown hair, he was wearing a heavy coat to protect him from the late October weather, struggling to get something out of the fridges.
"Do you need help there?" He asked quietly while still staring at the man.
"I got it, thanks though," The light haired man annoyingly uttered as he grabbed the box of what looked to be beer out from the fridge, dropping other things on the ground by accident. Why would you get beer this early? Ryne thought as he saw things on the ground and started to help the man pick up everything that fell out, "I said I got it! I do not need help from someone like you!" The man placed his hands on Ryne's shoulders and pushed him hard into the glass fridge door. Knocking over his perfectly made burning hot coffee straight on Ryne's shirt causing him to shriek out in pain from the hot substance.
"What was that for?!" Ryne screamed loudly, loud enough for the whole store and street to hear as he tried to dab off the coffee on his shirt.
"I told you I didn't need help!" The light haired man screeched.
"Well, I'm sorry for being a good civilian!" The light haired man pushed Ryne once more into the fridge out of his own frustration, "Dude chill out!" Ryne was never interested in fights so he avoided them the best he could, but he couldn't avoid this one this morning. Ryne did the best thing that he could think of and grabbed a bag of chips off the aisle shelf and threw them at the light haired man. It hit him square in the face and the sounds of the chips breaking in half could be heard as they fell to the ground. The light haired man did the same but continuously threw things. Different brands of chips past by his head as he dodged them flawlessly.
"Don't tell me to calm down!" The light haired man screamed as he threw more heavy things at Ryne that was currently ducking behind an aisle shelf for protection. Ryne just sighed and looked around the store to see the remaining people in it. There was a young woman about 30, looking like she just woke up from her beauty sleep. A young man around the same age, a child that looked around 8, and the clerk. They were all hiding behind shelves as the man chucked items across the store at people.
"Yeah, dude you need to calm down!" Ryne screamed through the store. He noticed the clerk sneak out from his counter and grab something. Moments later he saw him crawl behind the crazy man, stood, and whacked the light haired man with a fire extinguisher in the back of the head. The man fell over limp on the ground as everyone cheered for the clerks bravery. Ryne got up and went over to the clerk that looked at the man like the whole situation was unreal, "Hey thanks for helping me," He smiled at the clerk.
"Well, my boss would of killed me if I didn't take care of that,"
"Oh well, thanks for helping," The clerk only nodded at Ryne as he made his way back to the counter to pull out the store phone. I'm guessing he's calling 911? I should get my coffee now and go home and change. He made his way over to the coffee machine again and filled up another Styrofoam cup with the scorching substance and walked to the counter as sirens sounded in the distance.
"I would like to pay for two of these, I did waste another cup when it got knocked over onto my shirt," He said while showing the clerk the coffee spill on his shirt that was slowly turning into a stain.
"That'll be 6 dollars," The clerk nervously told his customer.
"Everything okay? I know a fight just happened, but are you shaken up by it still?" Ryne calming said over the blaring sirens now while handing the clerk a 10 dollar bill.
"I'm fine, just haven't had this happen before. I don't really know what to do when the cops get here," The clerk said while handing Ryne his change of 4 dollars.
"Well I would stay here with you to help but I really have to run. I have to go home and change and make my way to my classes," Ryne dug inside his pocket for his phone and pulled it out, looking at the time, "Oh shoot, I'm already late for class. Great," He sighed out in frustration for being late yet again to his college classes.
"Well I hope you make it on time," The clerk told Ryne as the police walked into the store.
"Bye," Ryne left in a rush to his car.
