Chapter 2: Food

The kits are almost a moon old, she has been introduced to honey and herbs. Sparrowkit woke up from her usual cat nap and went over to her mother. Her ears and eyes have opened, she can now see what is inside the nursery. Her mother is light gray color with white stripes and darker gray rings around her fluffy tail. The kit's birthmate was also very interesting, he was a white short hair with brown and black cow spots. Her father was different, he was black and had white markings on his face and tail. Sparrowkit couldn't see herself very well all she knew about herself was she was black and had white mittens on her front left leg and her back right leg.

Today she was going outside she was very excited. Her mother struggled to keep her to kits calmed down. "Now you two must behave," she said with a broad smile," There will be cats everywhere so stay close to me, understand?" The kits looked at each other and nodded in agreement. The kits emerged from the nursery and stood at the entrance staring at the new colors. Her brother, Eaglekit, came running from inside and tackled Sparrowkit. She was startled so she whipped around and started biting Eaglekit. He yelped," What was that for!?" The other clan cats stopped what they were doing and stared at the little troublemakers. The two kits slunk down to the ground in submission and scrambled to their mother. Some of the apprentices started laughing at the kits, but Lavenderclaw gave a quiet hiss at the amused apprentices. The kits played for hours until something big came and they had to run inside.

"Momma, what's that" Eaglekit asked in a worried tone. "Oh it's nothing dear" Lavenderclaw said as she grabbed the two kits and embraced them. The other queens looked scared and their kits weren't any better. "Why is everycat afraid" Sparrowkit said in between sips of her mum's milk. Her mother didn't say anything all she did was stare at the entrance of the nursery like a giant monster was going to jump in and that's exactly what happened.
