Hello, my name is DeAntre' Richardson, and i am currently a senior at NCHS-East. We are in the 2nd semester of the school year and i have all of my credits that i need to graduate. That makes me feel good knowing that I one step closer out the door. So I went and talk to my conselor and ask her what i needed, she said that I have everything that i need to graduate high school. So she ask me what did i want to have on my schedule, i relpied saying Gym, Computer intro, and Woodshop 2. So she was looking and she said that i was able to get all three.The reasonI am only taking three is because of my 3rd and 4th block are together. But let me tell you a little bit about my 2nd block class.
When i first got into this class of computer intro, i thought it was going to be basically a hands on class. Seems as we continued it wasn't all about that. The class isnt all that bad its just some of the things we do that i really dont care for. I really enjoy looking up the new technology on the computer but all the note taking and the test that we do, I really dont like it, but i do my work simply because if i sat there and do nothing then the time we go by extra slow. We cant really talk that much, and you will get wrote up in the class before you know it because she will write you up and dont even tell you and just send it to the office later with time. But i will just tell you some of the things that we do,learn, and disscus in this class.
We take the computer apart almost every week, and we have to have a partner to watch us take it apart and put it back together, and then it will be there turn to do it. Some of the things in the computer is the Motherboard, CPU, Cooling Fan, Power Supply, IDE Cable, Hard Drive, Floppy Disk Drive, CD ROM Drive, Daughter Board, and much more. The one main thing you have to do while taking the computer apart is you have to be safe, because there are things in the computer that will cut you. You also have to ground you self, it will be good to wear an anti-static wrist band. One thing you should never do is try and open up the power supply. The power supply contains very high voltage that can kill you if you try and open it up. So that is just some of the things that we do in the class with the computer.
Now I am here to talk about the notes that we take. I am not a big note taker and i try to take as many short cuts as I can. Everyday that we come in here we have to take some notes, I dont know about anybody else in this class but I get tired off writing notes, I am more of a hands on person. After all of the note taken for about awhile she will tell us that we will have a test on the notes that we have been taken. I personally dont study, because when i study I am going to forget something. Then sometimes she will say do this over the weekend I dont do work over the weekends, because how I look at it thats my time to relax. So if it wasnt for me having to do this work I wouldnt have done it, because this is not for me.
The next thing is not being able to talk that much in this class. I have never had a class at NCHS-East that you couldnt talk when you want to as long as you are not loud. In this class we really cant talk like that when we want to, and that gets me because I love to talk and have fun. Not saying we need to talk all the time in this class, but we can atleast talk right much as long as we are not loud. I guess when they say that they can make there own rules, they mean it.
We have to do a new technology just about every week. I enjoy it because I like some of the different things I see. The only thing is that you cannot do the same one somebody in another class or your class has done. Which I dont think is right because its not but so many things that you can get that are new made in 2012. I remember when two people in the class got in an arguement over who had what first. so the teacher said well how about both of yall do it over, and find something else to do today. Me being the person that I am, I ask her can I take what they where fighting over and she said yes. So that worked out perfect being that I needed to have one more thing, but we have good times in here sometimes with this new technology.
Sometimes I dont even wont to be in this class, because we cant talk and I am a senior in high school, and I am trying to have fun but with this class you just cant. I have a woodshop class and I have gym, both of them I can talk in but in this one it just be boring if me and my bestfriend not talking to each other it be straight quiet in here. We use to have assign seats but then that got a little better, but as far as having talking in the class I dont think she will ever change her mind with that. i just hope it get better if it dont, i only have 2 months and some change so I think I can stick it out.
We where also suppose to do a little play for class and she was suppose to record it, but it looks like everybody was doing it except for my class I dont know why. That look like it would be a fun thing to do because it give you a little time to be funny and talk alot in this class, rather than just sitting there and doing powerpoints and not talking at all. Some of the plays that we seen where pretty good to, I would have love to be a part of it.
