The six of us all pile into the small cramped shuttle, the suits making sitting down difficult. The door closes and hisses as it pressurizes, somehow this is nothing like the simulations. I hear a fizzle in my headset, and then a voice telling me the various checks I need to make "roger that, everything is optimal" I say. And then the countdown, the announcer calls out the numbers that we have heard a million times. The suspense is killing me, I heave a sigh and hear the announcer say liftoff. A click reassures me that the clamps are detached, and we wont crash on the launch pad. Chris the pilot pushes the lever forward, and I feel my head being pressed against the leather headrest. And then we were off, the displays were reading higher speeds and higher altitudes as we flew through the stratosphere. The ship started shaking violently, and the windows where bathed in a bright orange. "Brace yourself!" Yelled john who was sitting to my right. All of a sudden, as fast as it started it was over.
