merman bill x ford

part 1

ford had been living gravity falls for about a month and he had already learned so much, moving here was one of the best decisions he had ever made. today he decided to take a trip to the lake hoping to see that island monster he had had only catched a glimpse of befor. he packed up his things and set off for the lake.

when he got there he noticed something splashing around by the edge of the lake. ford slowly approached to see a merman stuck in a trap and trying desperately to free himself, ford continued to come closer than the merman noticed him and tried to get away faster 

"its alright, im not going to hurt you" ford said gently trying to calm him him down    

"just go away!" the merman said still trying to free himself 

"no, i can help you" ford said kneeling down by the lake 

"NO! i don't need your help" the merman said growling 

"please i just want to help you" ford said starting to free him, the merman just stared at ford's hands with narrowed eyes as ford freed him

"i said i don't need your help" the merman grawled 

"and i insisted on helping you" ford said as he finished freeing the merman but saw that his fins were wounded from the trap, the merman tried to swim away but was forced to stop due to the wounds on his fins and slumped on the side of the lake groaning in pain. ford looked worried "i can help you, i'll bring you to my house and find something to heal you" ford said wanting to help as much as he could.

"and how do you suppose i get there without dying" bill said gritting his teeth in pain 

"ummm" ford thought then got up "wait here i'll be back with something to get you there" ford said running back home to look for something big enough to transport the merman than found a box that he hoped would fit him, he filled it with water and put it into the back of his car and drove back to the lake and stopped beside the lake and brought out the box full of water and approached the merman. the merman frowned at the box but thought about his options and realized he didn't have any other solutions and ford looked harmless enough and  tried to lift himself out of the water to the box but was having difficulty and stared up at ford expectantly, ford saw how much he was struggling and helped him into the box and gently lifted the box into the car and drove home.

once ford got home he unloaded the box which held the injured and rather disgruntled merman. ford leaned against the wall panting from all the heavy lifting while the merman stared up at ford with a look of pain and annoyance at being put in such a small box

"i know it's not ideal but i'll get you something better...let me just get you some bandages" ford said getting up to go find some

"you're taking this whole me being a merman thing pretty weirdly for humans" the merman said wincing in pain but looking curiously at ford 

"well i've encountered  many strange things and a merman is hardly the strangest" ford said bringing the bandages over  and kneeling down beside the merman and started wrapping the mermans wounds in bandages  when he suddenly stopped when the merman flinched away from him. "its ok im trying to help you" ford said gently calming the merman down and wrapped his wounds. 

"why are you helping me....humans never help" the merman said staring up at ford 

"i couldn't leave you there" ford said 

"you're weird" the merman said looking away from ford

"i'm going to go get you a better tank, will you be alright on your own?" ford asked looking a little worried

"i'll be fine" the merman said "a bigger tank would be way better than this so hop to it" the merman said  

ford was about to leave but stopped at the doorway and looked back at the merman "can you tell me your name?" ford asked 

"its bill"
