Harper"Where are we going Mr. M "
"You'll see just be patient"
I'm pretty sure I was agitating him, it had been my fifth time asking where we were going. We weren't far from the city but we weren't close. By the looks of it, I'd say he was off to kill me or drop me off and hit the road without me.
We had been on a back road for quite some time now, not a living thing was seen for miles.
Before I knew it, he pulled onto a dirt road, the road wasn't straight so it was hard to determine exactly where we were going. But my curiosity was answered when Mr. M came to a stop at a decent sized meadow.I couldn't come to a conclusion on why he would bring me here when they said we were going site seeing. My suspicion grew as he actually got out the car and beckoned for me to follow.
A tree sat in the grassy area. It's roots grew up till a few feet away from it and they were wide and lengthy. This tree looked old, centuries old maybe, but for some reason i felt that this tree had much more of a sentiment meaning other than the fact it was a tree.Mr.M walked right up to the tree and placed his hand flat on it. It still baffled me as to why he would bring me here. Was this a site he wanted to me to see? If so for what reason?
It took me a minute to notice the markings around the tree, initials and hearts were scattered around where bark had been chipped off.
One was bolder than the rest, it stuck out like no other.
L + V
Who the two was would stay unknown to me, but I oddly felt drawn to it.
I felt Mr.Ms eyes before I saw them, his glare on me put pins and needles in my back. I had a slight feeling he wasn't happy with my digging finger around the outline of the heart.
"Why'd you bring me here."
My hushed voice was hard to hear but I'm sure he caught on to what I said."Did you really want to go site seeing? Especially with me? All of the tabloids, people staring, pictures and assumptions. I don't know about you but that doesn't sound fun to me, this is a little more.... private."
He did have a point, or maybe he didn't want to be seen near me in public. That reasoning made much more sense to me.
"Harper?" damn him, I was thinking why'd he have to speak.
"Yes Mr. Milliard?"
"Please, just call me Liam. My last name is too formal. So, harper, how do you like your stay here so far?" for some odd reason Liam seemed to be talkative, while I wasn't in much of a mood for talking, I still did my best to answer.
"It's nice here, the weather is almost perfect and although I have only been here for maybe a day I wouldn't mind staying longer." Short and too the point good one harper.
"I guess you're right, are you coming tonight? For the family dinner I mean."
Ugh, no I definitely did not want to go now with him being there. I'm more than likely to make a fool of myself.
"Well from what your mom says, I believe I have no choice but to go."
That made him chuckle, this had been the first time I saw him smile and it really was more of a breathtaking site than where we had been. A few more words had been exchanged before he had decided that it we should head back.
Liam dropped me off back at the hotel that his mother and I were staying at. The family dinner was a few hours away and I wasn't sure what to wear or if I had a chance to escape and hide away in my room for the rest of the night.
Mrs. Milliard would not accept that from me so the only thing I could do was figure what to wear.I don't have much clothing, most of it is business attire since that is the only dressing up I have to do. Maybe jeans would work? I'm not sure, maybe I could just wear my pencil skirt and a button up with a coat. Still seems too formal. Out of frustration I tightly pulled on my hair and mentally screamed to myself.
You know what, I don't care. I'll wear whatever I like. And that is exactly what I did not do. Mrs. Milliard arrived at my room and found me in a pile of clothes, which I was using to hide under hoping she wouldn't notice.
"Get up, come on now hurry, we have a lot to do in little time." If I can't see her she can't see me.
"I have nothing to wear.."
My voice sounded mumbled through the stacks of clothing."I brought you something to wear, get up and put it on before I drag you out of this room wearing whatever you may be wearing."
She always knows how to get me up on my feet.
When I looked up at her she had a box of shoes in one hand and a hanger in the other that held clothing with a bag draped over it so I couldn't see.
"What's that?" Clothes you stupid.
"What you're wearing for tonight. Now put it on and meet me in the lobby in 10. We are gonna be late."She threw the two items at me and left the room. Well isn't she just nice.
The shoes were a pair of nude, almost white, heels. What was on the hanger was a blue dress that was long sleeved and laced, it flowed down to above my knees or mid thigh.
I was very grateful for Mrs. M, Id have to thank her later. I left my hair down and curled then into loose curls.
Making my way down to the lobby I hoped I wouldn't make a fool of myself tonight."Harper, we are late. Let's go."
Slow updates are annoying, I get it. Not making any promises they'll get better or that I'll have a schedule. But here's a chapter.
Stay tuned.
