Oblivious

"Pant... Pant." 

"Give up dobe. You'll never beat me." A smooth voice flowed through the air.

"Uzumaki Naruto never gives up! I'll beat you teme! Just you wait!" A blonde haired child exclaimed, his face puffed in anger, cerulean eyes wide in determination. 

Sasuke smirked in amusement, his onxy eyes soft with adoration as he looked at his friend. He couldn't help but laugh a little at the cute whiskered face. 

Naruto truly was precious to him but it wasn't something he would say. 

Not in a million years. 

"Hn... Big words dobe. Got the skills to back it up?" Sasuke gave him a challenging smirk and he laughed internally seeing how riled up Naruto was getting. 

"I've got more skills than you teme!" Naruto exclaimed, raising his fist and charging towards his rival. The fight continued, neither boy willing to give up. 

As time went by, the commotion diminished. Energy draining from both boys. Naruto gasped and flopped onto the grassy ground below him, panting to get more air into his lungs. Sasuke soon followed suit, lying next to Naruto. 

"Are you two done now? Training ended some time ago." A deep voice cut through. Naruto looked up to see Kakashi sense looking at them, a bored look in his eyes. The kitsune grinned and lifted his hand to send Kakashi a weak 'thumbs up'. 

Kakashi chuckled. "Well I got things to do. Ja ne!" With that he disappeared, a puff of smoke wisping through the air.

Naruto rolled his eyes and laid his head on the grass, looking up at the pinkish orange sky. The evening sun rays shone through the horizon. Naruto smiled, the calming atmosphere made him feel more relaxed. Sasuke turned his head to look at his team mate. 

Naruto's eyes were closed but a serene smile was plastered across his face. The sun rays shone against the tan skin, giving a glowing appearance. A soft breeze passed through, ruffling the sunflower locks. 

All in all to Sasuke, this was a beautiful moment. Piercing black eyes shone in gentleness and a tiny smiled slipped on his face unknowingly. All was quiet until...

"Sasuke-kun!" 

A high-pitched voice screeched through ruining the beautiful moment. Sasuke growled before sitting up to see a pink blur coming closer towards him. Sighing in annoyance, he waited for Sakura to come up to him, knowing fully well what she was going to ask. 

"Sasuke-kun! You were so awesome!" Sakura exclaimed, batting her eyelashes at him. 

Sasuke internally gagged. 

"Sakura-chan! What about me?" Naruto entered the conversation, slightly miffed that Sasuke was the one getting the compliments. 

Sakura huffed in annoyance. "Shut up Naruto! Can't you see I'm talking with Sasuke? God you're so annoying." 

Naruto's blue eyes dimmed before he turned to look at the grass below him, his face downcast. Sasuke growled. 

'Who does she think she is talking to Naruto like that.' Sasuke internally seethed. 

"Anyway Sasuke... I was wondering, since today is V-valentines day, w-would you like to spend it with me? Like go on a date?" She asked, her jade eyes wide with hope. 

Sasuke snorted. "No. Now leave me alone." He said harshly, glaring at her. 

Sakura gasped slightly at the harsh words. Small tears gathered in her eyes before she whispered a soft 'okay' and left the training grounds.

Naruto looked up, feeling sympathy for his pink-haired teammate. He turned to look at Sasuke, the raven's face impassive as ever. 

"You know you could have rejected her more nicely. She loves you a lot you know." Naruto whispered, his voice uncharacteristically soft. Sasuke turned to look at his crush, sighing before saying,

"She doesn't love me dobe. She is in love with the idea of me. My status, my looks... She doesn't know me. If she did, she wouldn't be in love with me." 

Naruto's eyes widened at those words before they softened in sympathy. 

'I never thought of it like that. Seeing Sasuke get bombarded with gifts each Valentines day made me so jealous because he was loved by everybody. But all those gifts are just empty confessions with no love behind it.' Naruto thought. 

"Plus I love someone else anyway." Sasuke whispered. Naruto whipped up his head in shock before grinning slyly. 

"Oh... who managed to capture your heart teme?" Naruto smirked. Sasuke rolled his eyes, shoving Naruto's blonde head. 

"As if I'll tell you dobe." 

Naruto pouted. A silence settled between the two boys before Sasuke slowly said, 

"Hey dobe? You want to hang out with me for the rest of the day?" 

Naruto stared at his friend before exclaiming "yes!" and grabbed the pale hand, dragging him to the direction of Ichiraku's. Sasuke shook his head in amusement but did nothing to stop Naruto as he was completely infatuated with the dobe's smile. 

Naruto looked back at Sasuke, his heart fluttering at the small smile the raven was sending him and suddenly a thought popped up in his head. 

'I like Sasuke a lot.' 

Time skip. 10 years later

Naruto smiled at the sweet memory. That unforgettable day led him to this situation. This serene, content moment. The blonde was cuddled up in Sasuke's arms, the ravens face nestled into Naruto's soft neck, the gentle breaths tickling against the skin. 

A lot of changes happened a few weeks after that day, the most monumental one was when Sasuke came up to him, confessed his love before grabbing the blonde's waist and kissed him hard. Ever since, they have been together. 

Naruto looked down at the silver band adorned on his ring finger. He blushed lightly before softly smiling, the memories still strong in his head. Suddenly a thought popped up in his head and his eyes widened. Turing around in Sasuke's arm, he gently shook his lover. 

"Sasuke! Wake up!" Naruto whispered. Sasuke being the light sleeper, jolted out of his slumber. Looking at his partner, he sighed in annoyance. 

"What the hell dobe! I was sleeping!" Sasuke angrily whispered. 

Ignoring the death glare being sent his way, Naruto asked,

"Remember that Valentines day you asked me to hang out with you? Did you ask me because I was the one you loved and you wanted to date me?" His expression looked so proud like as if he cracked the world's most difficult code. 

Sasuke stared at Naruto, his expression dumbfounded. 

"Oh my god... Dobe, it took you 10 years to figure that out? How oblivious are you?" Sasuke asked, genuinely shocked by Naruto's naivety.

Lightly slapping Sasuke chest, Naruto pouted. 

"Shut up teme! I never had anyone like me, let alone love me. I wouldn't have known!" Naruto whispered angrily. All the anger was washed away by a sweet kiss to his forehead. 

"Well now you have some who loves you. Go to sleep dobe." Sasuke turned Naruto in his arms, clutching the waist and pulling the blonde closer. He nestled his face into the tan neck and kissed the soft skin. 

"Love you dobe." 

Naruto couldn't help but smile. He placed his hand on the paler one, interlacing his fingers with his partners. 

"Love you too teme."
