She's The One

First Day Back

*BEEP* *BEEP* *BEEP*

"Shit!" I mumbled to myself almost waking up late. I quickly hurried out of bed to get dressed for.. you guessed it, the first day back to school. It's now my senior year and I'm so thrilled that this will be my last year of high school.

Practically running down stairs, I lead my way to the kitchen to find my mom drinking her coffee and reading a magazine like she usually does every morning.

"Good morning sweetie, are you excited for your first day back as a new woman?" she says with a chuckle leading to a sip of her coffee. "Mom, new woman? Really? I'll be a woman once I turn 18, not by being a senior" I say laughing while grabbing myself something quick to eat. "I love you Mom, see you after my new world of being a 'woman'." "I love you too sweet heart, just remember to text me if you need anything!" she says as I'm quickly walking out of the house.

Pulling into the student parking lot, I quickly park and shut my car off. I sit in my car for a few moments looking around at some of the new freshman and some students I remember from last year. I giggle at the new freshman for looking so little this year. Getting my bag and stuff together, I quickly step out of my car and hurry to my first period.

"Tara! Hey!" I hear from behind me. I turn around to see my best friend Lexa with her arms wide open. "Hey!" I say giving her a big hug like I hadn't seen her in years even though she was just over at my house last weekend. "Who's your first period?" she asked taking my schedule from me so I really didn't have to answer her. "Jones and I heard from the seniors last year that she's a chill teacher" I giggle as I take my schedule back. "Oh my god, yes dude we have the same first period" Lexa says as we start walking to class.

Finally I only had two more classes to go to until I got home. My last two classes were electives which happened to be internship both periods because I finished some of my senior classes in my junior year.

"Excuse me, should I just stay in the office or go else where for the last two period?" I asked the lady in the front office who always greeted everyone with a smile. "Um I guess you can stay in here for now, I know that there should be another student up here these last two periods as well" she said as she started to pick up the phone and continue on with her work. I went and took a seat at the desk they always had set up for students who had internship in the front office. I sat there for almost two hours until 1:55pm came and it was time to go home.

Coming home was probably the favorite part of my first day back. I was honestly so tired and wanted to knock out the second I stepped inside, but I went up to my moms room to see what she was doing. She doesn't work on Monday's, so she was lucky she didn't have to do anything today. "Hey mom, watcha doing?" I ask going to take a seat on her bed. "Just getting some paper work filled out. How was your first day back? Did you like your teachers?" she said fixing her glasses while sorting out a bunch of different papers. "My day was alright, I have a few classes with Lexa so I'm happy about that. My teachers are nice, but it's only the first day so I have yet to know how they truly are" I laugh continuing on with what I was saying "I have intern my last two periods so after 5th period, I'm free for the day really. The lady in the office told me there was supposed to be another student with me, but I guess they didn't show."
