The Ash-in-Born

.....

In the skies above, when Darkness fell,
and the Moon had gone unseen--
the ash-in-born from the Leilen-well
did rise from the ash to the Tree.

Of branch and bough and little Leaf
did those of the World-tree sing--
and the dust of Stars and the warmth of sun
was what the Ash-in-born did bring.

Marvel ye at the Ash-in-born,
the children of the Tree:
the Tragedy made them of Dust by roots,
and they sailed Heaven as their sea.

Soft their words, when Twilight fell,
and the Moon had gone unseen--
the ash-in-born from the Leilen-well
did come down from the Tree to sing.

A song of Life born from death
from the depths of their Souls was sung--
and to ease the hearts of the lonely Guards
before the Gate did the ash-in-born come.

Mourn you all for the Ash-in-born,
the children of the Well:
as the City now in Ice doth sleep,
from the Branches they have all but fell.

Boughs of Ash lead down to earth,
and 'twas here did they come to Sleep
in barren fields they raised their Ghosts
and within did their Memories keep.

A song of Life born from death
and an echo within Dreams did resound--
the ash-in-born from the Leilen-well
to each their Roots helpless bound.

Silent now, the Ash-in-born
and so too have been stilled their Songs--
in Eral they weep now silver tears
as devils they have been made in Wrong.

Severed were songs, when Ax did fall,
and the City became but a dream.
The ash-in-born from the Leilen-well
were cast to the Shackle and to the sea.

A song of Hate borne in the blood
and a cry from the Roots unheard--
sinners turned saints spread Fire and tears
and so did the ash-in-born Memories burn.

Fear ye now, the Ash-in-born,
the children of the Tree:
for once they Wake from their terrible fate
it is they who shall Sunder thee.
