Most of the people in Brayn High School were celebrating Valentine's Day except for Ian. Ian didn't have a valentine but he did have a crush. His crush was his best friend, Vanessa. Vanessa didn't know about Ian's love for her and he wanted to show it but couldn't because Vanessa already had a boyfriend. Jack, Vanessa's boyfriend, was a 2 faced jerk. He didn't like Ian. He only showed his good side to Vanessa.
Vanessa was on her way to see her boyfriend. She had a picture of Jake and her on their first date. She even had a split heart locket necklace that said Hers in the left necklace and his on the right necklace. As she walked to where she would meet Jake, she was shocked to find something that would break her. She had caught Jake making out with a girl. Jake was even holding a flowers. A tear came out of Vanessa and she left the scene, running. Ian saw her running past him. He wondered what had happened so he went to see. He was shocked as well. He wanted to act fast. Ian walked up and punch Jake in the face. The girl pulled away and was oblivious as to what happened. Ian took the flowers that Jake was holding and walked away to find Vanessa.
Ian found Vanessa sitting in a bench with her gifts beside her. She had tears running but stayed silent. Ian walked up to her. He handed her the flowers he stole.
"Hey, Saw what happened." Ian said. Vanessa didn't look up.
"Leave me alone." Vanessa said in a stern voice.
"Vanessa I'm not going to leave you. You're hurt and I want to help. I want to be there for you. Please Vanessa ... I ... I'm your friend." Ian hesitated, wanting to say I love you.
"I'm useless." Vanessa pitied herself.
"No, you're not." Ian disagreed.
"Then why'd he cheat on me?" Vanessa asked.
"Because he's a jerk. Its obvious ... he doesn't see the beauty inside you ... only the beauty outside of you." Ian comforted her. Thats what made Vanessa look up.
"Really?" Vanessa asked, calming down.
"Yea, I should know. I've known the inside for a long time." Ian said.
"Thanks." Vanessa said.
"Yea ... Hey ...Valentine's Day isn't over ..." Ian said as he picked up the necklace and split it and have her the one that said His. "... Will you be my Valentines?"
Vanessa looked at the necklace and took it.
"As Best Friends?" Vanesza asked.
"As Best Friends." Ian smiled at her and helped out on her necklace and he put his.
Ian held Vanessa's hands and Vanessa held the flowers. The picture of Jake and her were ripped in pieces and thrown on the ground. They walked to class together. They spent the whole Valentine's day togehter as friends. Best Friends.
