He and I get to occasionally hang out together.
I am typically in the booth while he is on stage and afterwards he always seems to disappear with out a trace.
-------
That Friday after we had been interrupted during our time together we got a second chance to hang out.
The main actor in the show, Joseph, didn't show up. Mr. R was understandably upset and was trying, like the rest of the cast, to reach Joesph.
"Take five, everyone. We will return to rehearsal after dinner!" Mr. Russo yells from the stage to all the cast and crew.
I sigh in relief taking off my headset and turn it off. I grab my sack dinner and crawl up the ladder to the beam. I enjoyed being up here, I didn't have a fear of heights. I didn't get sick when looking down. I felt more comfortable here than anywhere else.
I pulled out my "almond" sandwich. When I say almond, I really mean peanut butter. I am sorry but I just really love peanut butter sandwiches and it isn't like I am going to be making out with someone with a peanut allergy... hell I would be lucky to even hold hands with someone...I started to shove the delicious food into my mouth when I found hear the echo of footsteps on the catwalk. It's interesting how much you can hear when there isn't a loud cast beneath you. I turn around to come face to knees of a person.
"My eyes are up here," He jokes.
I roll my eyes.
"Can I sit?"
I shrug, "sure".
He sits next to me and takes out his own food.
"I thought everyone was going to go get Taco Bell?"
He shakes his head, "almost, but not everyone. I decided to stay for that reason."
"Who didn't go?" I asked curiously looking over at him.
"You and I."
I was confused. He took a big bite of his sandwich looking off somewhere or was he thinking?..
We ate in silence for a while and I finally put two and two together. He stayed because I did.
