"Krul...does our heart beat?" Laughing, Krul had hugged her brother without answering his question.

The scene vanished and her brother's face was replaced by Mahiru Hiragi's. The girl had smirked when she was questioned about Asura Tepes. Mahiru had screamed when Krul made her drink her blood. Krul had watched as the demon-possessed human suffered the painful transformation into a vampire. The girl's eyes flashed red as the scene once again faded.

"Krul Tepes. His Majesty has called for you." a guard yelled down the corridor.
Krul opened her eyes. Lest Karr had call for her? Her eyes lit up. Finally. She can finally exit this cold cell. The former queen hoped that the guards couldn't sense her excitement. She patiently waited for the guards to lead her up to her original domain. Her territory. How dare that kid interfere?

Krul Tepes squints as light hits her eyes. She whimpered as they dragged out of her cell. Her wounds never healed due to the lack of blood she received. She sighed as the floor that scraped across her wounds transitioned from the rough concrete in the underground cells to the smooth marble in the throne room. She had little time to enjoy the familiar surroundings before the guards shoved her into a bird cage the size of a large dog house. She hissed. Krul Tepes will never get used to the disrespect. She was the Third Progenitor. She will not forget or forgive. However, she must keep those thoughts to herself right now.

*Well at least my arms are not hurting,* she thought as she rubbed her red wrist. She sat in the metal cage, waiting for someone to appear. As a vampires, lust is not a feeling they experience which results in Krul feeling absolutely fine in her torn, revealing attire. The former queen has lost track of time in her damp cell. What day was it today? How long has it been since the battle? Krul's questions remained unanswered. Like all the other questions she had ever asked.

The female vampire tensed up as many unfamiliar scents hit her nose. Before she could react, the lights in the throne room dimmed down and a spotlight was directed on her cage. Many familiar and unfamiliar faces appeared around the room. She tried to maintain calm and emotionless, like a true queen. However, all her efforts were lost when she laid eyes on the child sitting on her throne.  Her eyes flared but she maintained her composure. That disdainful, powerless child. Lest Karr only regarded her glare with a cold, calculating smile. She returned his greeting with one of her own smiles.

Lest Karr looked as well as ever, with his half white half violet-red  hair braid neatly behind his head. He was wearing his usual black top hat and his usual black and blue attire with golden buttons. He sat on her velvet throne lined with gold. With one look, Krul decided that he did not belong. Only she belonged on her throne

Ignoring her hateful glaze, Lest Karr cleared his throat and the murmuring nobles quieted down. Now Krul understood. This was a court meeting. This was her trial. She got up and sat on her knees, trying to look as regal as possible despite her ragged appearance. Since she is given the chance to defend herself and her name, she will try her best.

Lest Karr stood up. "Today, I bring us all together to decide the fate of Japan's Former Queen, one of our precious Third Progenitor, Krul Tepes." He looked around the room as he spoke, asserting his form of dominance on her subjects. "As you all know, I, Lest Karr, King of Germany and Third Progenitor, is keeping watch over Japan as your former leader proved incapable of ruling." With that, he sent a small sneer at Krul.

Krul held the bars preventing her from breaking free. If she wasn't so weak and hungry, metal bars like these would have done nothing to stop her from escaping. Alas, she was weak, hungry, and wounded.

"Krul Tepes, here, has broken the taboo of Seraph of the End. She had joined forces with the humans and tried to change fate by messing with the Seraph of the End. Years ago, we, vampires, have already been forbidden to participate in any experiments regarding that project, but clearly the puny humans and our beloved queen, Krul Tepes, thought that they were above the law. The humans, we could care less, but our own queen? That was disappointing." His words earned a series of nods and agreements from the nobles present.

Krul did not lower her head.

Lest Karr continued, "Therefore, as a result of her foolish and careless actions, I, hereby, strip her of all her titles."

Krul widened her eyes. She wasn't even given a chance her defend herself. How was this a just trial? She looked around to see if anyone caught this. No one reacted. Everyone only cheered for her punishment. She frantically searched the room. There must be at least one person aware of how a trial is suppose to be. Her vision started getting hazy and the room seemed to be spinning. Before Krul can right herself, she fell over, unconscious.

***
Krul opened her eyes to bright sunlight. She blinked as her senses started working again. She first registered the ocean of water. A lot of water. And rocking. She was on a boat in the ocean. Her arms and legs were chained but not to a wall. The pink-haired vampire looked around as much as her strained neck allowed her too. She allowed her mouth the open slightly, tasting the salty air. She noticed that her body was attached to a cross. Her delight at the new scenery turned into horror.

"Ferid Bathory!" she screamed. Her throat felt like it was being torn apart but she continued screaming. "Ferid Bathory! Come out this instant!" This could not be happening.

Appearing beneath her, the silver haired vampire yawned lazily and looked up her. "What is it that has you screaming so early in the morning? We don't sleep but we still do enjoy a little peace." He smiled at her as if everything's alright.

"Why am I hung from a cross? What's the meaning of this?" She knew that she should've been more polite since she was now a prisoner, but Krul could not care less. This was the first time she felt genuine fear in centuries.

"You are quite demanding for someone in that position. Don't scrunch up your face. It ruins your beautiful features." Ferid only smiled up at the pink haired vampire. "Our Majesty Lest Karr has decided to let you go easy. Your punishment is sun exposure for 10 days. Many argued that your sentence should be longer but he insisted that 10 days was enough. Isn't he kind?"

Krul spat at him. She could feel the cold dreading clawing her heart. If anything was worse than thirst, it was sun exposure. Her head could not function. She just could not believe what she just heard. "S-sun- sun exposure?" she stuttered, her voice only a little more than a whisper.

Ferid Bathory chuckled. "My. Why do you sound so afraid? 10 days is nothing for someone who has lived as long as yourself, right? Compared to you, we are all only kids. Therefore, my Former Queen, show us the power of the third progenitor. But then again, who would've thought that you would faint during your trial?" He yawned again. "The punishment will start as soon as His Majesty and your overseer wakes up. In the meantime, I will return to my chambers."

Krul Tepes called out to him as his back started disappearing under the deck. "Overseer?"

"Of course. We wouldn't want to leave you cooking for too long. 10 days. Someone needs to keep time." He turned around and looked at the former vampire queen. He could not hide his delight looking at the fear on her face. "The Fifth Progenitor just joined us two days ago. He will be overlooking your punishment." With that, Ferid Bathory disappeared below deck.

Krul Tepes rested her head against the wooden pole behind her, all energy drained from her small body. She has never believed in God, but today, she prayed. She prayed that Mika would return before they wake up. She prayed that she would not have to go through her sentence. Most importantly, even though it was foolish, she wished to see her brother, well and healthy, laughing with her again.
