"You okay?" A voice asked.
I look over to see who gave me a nudge and it was Calum. Calum was my science partner and he loved science. He was a little taller than me with black hair, that looked emo at the worst of times. He had a few freckles splattered across his face and he was physically fit due to his devoted love to football. He didn't know I knew so much about him, because whenever he talked I would just 'doodle' in my book.
"Oh yeah, I'm fine thanks Calum"
"Good"
"Are you?"
"Eh" He shrugged, pulling up his bag onto his shoulder.
If I'm being honest, I think he was having problems at home because he would arrive really early and in a bad mood. He would also try to stay behind at school or go to a friends house for a long time.
"What's that supposed to mean then?" I scowled.
"Nothing ... Hey! Do you wanna play a game tonight?"
"Sure, but I need to finish reading this chapter I'm reading-"
"You mean your-"
"No, no, no. Not that. I told you, I don't read that stuff anymore ..." My words trailed and thought back to when he caught me reading.
The bell went and we were dismissed from class. As we left the school premises, we made our way along a long narrow footpath. I managed to push past him and get in front.
"So your saying, " He started with,
"If I read an 'erotica' to you. You wouldn't like it?"
"Urmmm ..." I started to blush as we turned into the estate that we lived in.
"I fucking knew it!" He shouted, jumping up and down whilst pointing at me.
"Calum! Shut the hell up will ya?" I shouted, grabbing his collar and pulling him down. The shirt was crinkled up in both my hands and I had a good grip on his collar. He started to laugh at me, but I didn't loosen my grip.
"Your a real dick sometimes" I mumbled, pulling him in a bit closer. He looked down at my hands, back up to my face and raised one eyebrow.
"Ooh. Kinky!" He laughed after giving me a wink.
"Yuk!" I exclaim, throwing him to the floor.
"You don't mean that" He said, jogging up to me. I gave him a confused look as he continued patting himself down.
"Oh come on! Look at me. You would totally date me!" He shouted, doing a sort of body roll.
"Ha! Your hilarious Calum! You get funnier every time I see you" I laughed sarcastically. I hit his shoulder. It wasn't playfully, I tried to hurt him.
"Aww! Your so cute when you try to hurt me" I went bright red as he pinched my cheeks.
I went into throw another punch, but he grabbed my fist in his hand. He grinned in amazement to actually getting it. I moved my hand a little to loosen his grip, but it only tightened.
"You really want to hurt me?" He pleaded, giving me puppy eyes as we stopped.
"Very much so!" I tried to distract him as I made a swing with my other arm. But ... It didn't work. He just ducked, to which my surprise, made me keep going with the momentum. I totally lost my balance as I spun around. I blinked a few times to help my eye sight go straight again.
I looked down to see I was in Calum's arms, on the floor.
"Calum! Get off me!" I playfully screamed as I wiggled.
"No! Not until you say you'd date me!"
"Never!" I replied, laughing.
As I wiggled out of his grip I managed to partially stand up before being pulled back down. My back hit the grass as I winced in pain. When I opened my eyes I was met by the two emeralds.
"Say it" He whispered playfully.
"No!" I shouted. I felt his hand slowly slide up my waist. Goosebumps covered my body as I felt his warm touch against my skin. His hand went all the way up my side and to my face. I froze in panic and just laid there. He slowly cupped my face with one cheek and in the blink of an eye he was playing with my hair.
He was watching his fingers dive between the strands of hair. But I was watching him.
"Will you say it now?" He whispered.
"Huh? What?" I questioned.
"Will you say you'd date me ..."
He stopped watching his fingers and looked straight into my eyes. I could see my facial expression in his eyes and I was in just shock. I was smiling, but freaked out. He didn't avoid his gaze, but just looked at me. Patiently.
I huffed.
"Oh my god ... I would date you"
"That's not a romantic way to ask someone out!" He replied, pulling me up from the ground.
"Oh you wish!" I exclaimed, making my way back to my house.
"Yeah .." He said. He rubbed the back of his neck, acting nervous. He certainly is a funny character.
"Goodbye Calum!" I shouted, walking down my driveway.
"Bye Love!" He shouted, giving me a wink as he walked backwards.
"Love? Really?" I replied, putting my hands on my hips.
"Yeah, it suits you!" He shouted, giving me the cheesiest grin I've ever seen.
As he walked into his house, I just stood in my driveway .... Smiling.
