Chapter 2

Your P.O.V

We were pulled swiftly through the portal and it lead us into a garage. I already knew who'd pulled us through, I just didn't know why he'd grabbed Morty.

"R-r-rick! W-w-w-we're m-meant to be a-at s-school!" Morty scolded the old man.

"Wait, Morty, how do you know Rick?" I questioned.

"H-he's my g-grandpa." Morty stated. "W-w-wait, how d-do you k-know h-him?"

"Well I see that you two have already m-met." Rick stated with a blank expression.

"What's going on?" I asked.

"I could ask you the s-ame thing." Rick said, "I thou-ght you didn't go to scho-ol."

"Yeah, well my parents found out, and now Morty is my escort."

"I am s-so confused, w-will s-s-someone p-please tell m-me how you k-know each o-other?" Morty asked.

I rolled my eyes slightly, "Well..."

Flashback

I was sitting in a tree in the park, tinkering with some mechanical bits and bobs I'd found in the trash, when I saw a portal open up several meters away. I stopped what I was doing and watched the scene from my place in the tree.

A man fell out through the portal and it closed itself behind him. He had wild, graying hair and was wearing a lab coat.

He got up, dusting himself off, then looked around the park. His gaze reached me and he paused. The man walked in my direction and stood at the base of the tree. His eyes danced this way and that, as if he was checking there wasn't anyone else around; once the 'coast was clear' he clambered up the tree.

I gave the man a confused glance and examined him as his thin body crawled its way up the tree and plopped itself down next to me.

"Can I help you?" I questioned, raising an eyebrow.

He looked down at the device I held in my hand, then looked back into my eyes, "Yes." he stated then pointed at my device.

"What do you want with this piece of trash?" I asked.

"I ne-ed it." he stated simply.

I gave him a confused look before shrugging my shoulders, "Sure, you can have it." I said, tossing him the device.

He took it hastily and portals began appearing around us; people stepped out and they appeared to have a lot of similar feature as the man next to me.

"Rick C-137! You are forbidden to make any contact with the (Y/N)!" one of them yelled, a finger pointing towards us.

The man jumped down from the tree and pressed a button on my device. Instantly, all the portals closed and a large black portal opened at the feet of the weird people, sending them falling.

"Wait, how did they know my name?" I asked.

He simply turned around and threw my device back to me, "Because, you're s-special." he stated and began walking away.

I successfully caught the device and watched the man walk off into the distance. He was almost out of sight before he turned his head back and yelled, "I'm Rick, by the w-way."

He then disappeared out of sight.

I rolled my eyes, "What a drama queen." I commented under my breath.

Flashback End

"Ugh, (Y/N). That is not ho-ow it happened." Rick rolled his eyes.

"Maybe not, but it's pretty close." I said with a slight pout.
