Prologue:
This isn't real.
"Kari, you need to come with me."
Dr A's hand slips into mine effortlessly. He oozes unsettling confidence, like he does this everyday. But then again, he probably does.
I start to follow him dutifully until I again realize the obvious...
This isn't real.
Shaking my head, I yank my hand away from his.
"No! This is wrong! You can't just-" before I finish, he smothers my mouth with his hand and shakes his head pitifully.
"So much firey spirit, so much hope..." he lets his head drop to one side as if studying me, "But don't worry my dear...we will soon sort that out."
Suddenly, his other arm lunges forward injecting a clear syrum into my forearm. My vision turns cloudy. Darkness steadly takes over. Before I fully black out, I hear his deep murmur rattle and echo in my skull: "When you wake up, you will see everything in a new light. It will be a newer, better you. People will ask questions, of course, and you must remember to answer them as It tells you to. You may not want to, but It will be very persuasive. Kari my dear, this is your reality now...this is real."
