The God's had promised them immunity from the destruction of the further galaxies. They had promised through contract that not a single soul was to be taken, tortured or tormented by the beings living thousands of light years away.
But everyone knows that promises are made to be broken.
My mother had promised my father on their wedding day that she would stay with him through health and sickness. If family can break a promise so easily, what's to stop a complete stranger from breaking one too?
One broken promise can lead to a broken world. It's amazing the catastrophic events that can follow one person's actions.
