Broken

Kerala's POV

As I walk into my new school I see thousands of other teenagers pouring  into the school.  Highschool. Great. I think to myself. I walk to my locker and try it out. As I turn around and away from my locker, I get tripped by a girl I recognize from when I was in 8th grade. I fall flat on my face, with all of the stuff from my backpack spilling onto the floor. I look up and see her walking away laughing with a few other girls by her side. Bitch. I think to myself. As get up I realize that my backpack has been kicked halfway across the flooded hall. "God dammit", I whisper to myself. I decide it's safer to leave the bag and throw what I don't need into my locker. I start walking to my homeroom. Worthless. Loser. You will never be good enough. Thoughts start rushing into my head. I start to walk faster and accidentally run into a wall. "Shit", I mumble. I turn around before anyone can notice and head into my homeroom. I sit down and find out this will also be my first period classroom. I look at my schedule and see it printed in bold letters:

1st period- Chemistry- Mrs. Sterling

At the moment I sit alone at my two seat lab table. I start to doze off and stare out the window, as I hear Mrs. Sterling start to ramble on about the lesson plan for the year. Then I'm jolted back to earth as someone makes a clattering noise while closing the door. "Sorry I'm late Mrs. Sterling, I was on the bus that arrived late", a guy about 6'2" with black hair and grey eyes says as he walks in handing Mrs. Sterling a note. "Take a seat, Derrick, we're just getting started", Mrs. Sterling said. I go back to staring out the window until I'm startled by someone sitting down next to me. I look at Derrick, and he looks back at me with a devilish, crooked smile. Then he turns away and starts drawing in a notebook of some sort. I'm not going to lie: he is hotter than any guy I've ever seen. Now I finally start to half listen to what the teacher is saying. Who is he? He must be a new kid, I think as Mrs. Sterling drones on about protonic acid.
