Protagonist POV
MANY YEARS LATER (FIVE)
I lay on the lounge room floor, hiding under the coffee table; Timmy is now 14 and Ellie 9, both trying to coax me out from under the table, I don't want to come out. I am told I need to have the tablet (medicine) to make me get better, I still don't want it though.
Eventually Timmy and Ellie smile sadly at me, reach out under the table to pat my head, and quietly tell me that everything will be okay, they get up and yell out a goodbye and leave for school for the day.
...
Slowly and carefully I get up and make my way over to my food and water bowls, I spend the rest of my day laying in the green grass in the warmth of the sun.
...
I hear the kids come home and leave not long after for their swimming class. When all of the Sullen's get home it will be movie night, the entire family, Mr. and Mrs. Sullen, Timmy and Ellie will curl up on the couch together, holding a bowl of popcorn Mr. Sullen will get up to turn the lights off then join the rest of the family to watch a movie. I will sit on the floor at their feet like normal, but then I will also join them on the couch tonight and lay across all of their knees; as I do this each member will automatically place a hand on my head or side and rub my fur, I will give a huff and close my eyes, happy and content with my life and where I am.
With my eyes still closed I will sigh once more only and fall into a deep, peaceful and eternal slumber...
