Chapter 2 || Admiring the Bluenette

Nathaniel was excited about his first class, art has always been his favourite subject and that is never going to change. And the best thing about it? His crush is in the same class. Although he doesn't sit near her, he is always admiring the girl with the midnight blue hair. Marinette would always gossip to her best friend Alya about her crush, Adrien Agreste, but Nathaniel was starting to wonder if she ever thought of him when she wasn't thinking about the blonde. If you asked him, Nathaniel would admit that he might be a bit jealous of Adrien, pretty much all the girls admire him because he's a model and the popular kid in school, no one ever thought about him because of how shy and insecure he is.

The art teacher, Mr. La'Vain, soon walked into the classroom and faced the class. He had a calm look on his face as usual.

"Good morning children. I hope you all remembered your homework." Mr. La'Vain reminded everyone, going through what was expected. He had told them the previous week to come up with something creative as the best work would be put into an art competition later in the year.

"I will be coming around to talk with you all individually about your creations, I can't wait to see what you have come up with." he continued as he folded his arms across his chest.

Nathaniel took this as an opportunity, he had never been involved in taking part in a competition before so he put his heart and soul into his work. Since he was out at the Louvre over the weekend, he decided to create a masterpiece of the environment around it, capturing the beautiful crystal blue sky with its fluffy white clouds, making the detail of the trees stand out around the famous art museum, everything about the piece was captivating, and he hoped Mr. La'Vain would see that.

Out of all the students whose work was viewed by the calm art teacher, he so far liked Marinette's work the most. And of course, Chloe Bourgeois had to say something mean about her work.

"Chloe, just leave her alone." Nathaniel said to the snobby blonde, who looked over at him and grinned.

"Oh, little tomato is defending his girlfriend." she said before laughing, Sabrina Raincomprix doing the same. Marinette looked down sadly, but her head perked back up when she heard Mr. La'Vain send her to the Principal's office, despite the blonde's complaints.

After a minute, he walked over and assessed Nathaniel's work, and he had a bright smile on his face. 

"Why, Nathaniel. This is an outstanding piece of work. I'm impressed." the art teacher beamed at the redhead, proud of his effort and dedication. "I am proud to announce that this piece will be featured in this years art competition." Nathaniel looked at Mr. La'Vain and grinned. 

"Th-Thank you Sir." he thanked the teacher and allowed him to take his homework. Through the corner of his eye, he could see Marinette giving him a thumbs up, he blushed and looked at her with a smile. He could see her mouth the words 'Congratulations Nathaniel.'

After the morning classes ended, everyone filed out of the classroom, some made their way back to their houses for lunch, while others such as Adrien and Nathaniel stayed at the school. Marinette would usually go home for lunch, but that morning she had told her parents that she will be eating at school today. Adrien ate lunch with Nino while Nathaniel nervously approached Marinette who was sitting with Alya, both girls saw him and Alya looked at her best friend.

"I need to use the bathroom, I'll be back in a minute okay?" she said, pointing in the direction of the girls bathroom. Marinette gave a nod of her head and watched her best friend leave the table, she then looked at Nathaniel and placed a hand on the seat next to her.

"You can sit here if you want?" she said with a bright smile on her face, making Nathaniel blush. He gave a quick nod of his head and sat down next to the bluenette, who was still happy for him having his artwork being featured in the art competition.

"I want to properly congratulate you Nathaniel, you really are talented, more than me." Marinette began, placing a hand on his shoulder.

"Th-Thanks Marinette. Y-You know, you're the reason why I got into art in the first place. You i-inspire me." the blushing redhead explained briefly, flattering the young girl. "I admire everything about you, you're always there to help people and cheer them up, especially me. I'm grateful for that Marinette, and I'm sure everyone else is too." he continued. Marinette smiled softly at him and placed a hand on his shoulder.

"Thanks Nathaniel, that really made my day." she said happily. "And I'm flattered that you admire me." she continued.

Before lunch time ended, everyone had already returned to the school, Nathaniel had already left Marinette to gather his equipment for the next class, and Alya returned to help her best friend up, since the bell was going to ring any second now.

"Ready for our next class Mari?" the ombre haired girl asked with a smile on her face. 

"Not really," Marinette shook her head. "As much as I need to know about scientific things, I really don't want to today." she continued. Alya gave an understanding nod of her head.

"I'll be sure to inform you of what you missed if you fall asleep again." she giggled, remembering one time in the past where Marinette had fallen asleep during one of Miss Mendeliev's classes and almost got a detention for it.

Both girls laughed before leaving the lunch room and walking towards their lockers to get their science books, prepared to face the class ahead.

Sorry for the delay of getting this chapter done, Uni is so hectic lately and I have a lot of assignments to do for just 2 CLASSES! Like, give us students a break teachers, please ;-;

Anyway, here is chapter 2. I have no idea if Miss Mendeliev is an art teacher as well, I'm just going by what I found on the Internet. Plus it is currently 2:25am on a beautifully dark Saturday morning and I am tired as all hell. I have no idea when I will start on chapter 3, but I will make an announcement when I have eventually written it up.
