Chapter 2-Stranger

Monday
6:00 AM *beep beep beep*
As though my mornings couldn't get any harder, I got up and went to splash my face with cold water and looked carefully at my reflection. I was ready for my senior year in high school, But my body said no. I showered first, and then I got dressed in white jeans and a red cut out shoulder top with white Nikes. I made a braid crown in my hair and only put loose powder on my face and mascara, I added a gold watch so my wrist wouldn't be bare.

*Honk Honk*

My phone started to ring and I saw Stanton's name show up. I picked up and drew out a solemn "Good morning". "Cali, I'm outside with Riven and Libby in the car. Come on we wanna go get breakfast before we head over to school." I said ok and quickly grabbed my bag and my lunch and kissed my mother on the cheek while she was still in the kitchen reading over some paperwork. I smiled seeing Libby argue with Riven to move in the front so I could sit next to her, but I ended up getting in the front to sit next to Stanton anyways. "Cali what took you so long!" Libby asked me with a raised voice, "Libby I took five minutes to get myself ready.. Doesn't Stanton always have to wait on you to get out of the house on time" I shot back. She smiled and sat talking to Riven and mumbling how she would get me back.  Stanton looked ahead as he drove and spoke to me softly, "I like your first day of school outfit. You are setting standards" he chuckled and winked.  "Thanks Stanton, are we going to the breakfast place on 22nd street?" I smiled and got excited because I knew that that was where they had the best lemon pies, and I could eat a big slice all by myself.  He nodded his head and slowed down pulling into the diner and parking. I got out and went to the door and Stanton came up behind me to hold the door for me and Libby, we sat down at the cushioned chaired booths and I looked hungrily at the menu. I studied it intently before ordering a everything plate which had bacon eggs and waffles, and ordered orange juice. As the waitress came over she took our orders and I sat staring at my phone while pulling up a coloring app to keep myself calm. I suffered with many anxiety issues in my past and I even seemed to develop a nervous condition.. not everyone turns out as perfect as the life they live. The waitress comes back with drinks and gives me a straw with a polite smile, and five minutes later she comes with four plates balanced on her arms and delicately puts them in order in front of all of us. I said thank you to the waitress and then began to devour my meal. "Slow down there Chica" Stanton laughed. I scowled and kept munching my food and soon enough I was finished and Libby asked for a to-go box, Riven picked up the tab and left a tip for the waitress as well. Libby was already in tow behind them as I got up finishing my orange juice, I was opening the door and I bumped into a strong chest.... I gasped and started to ramble many apologies when he spoke. "You don't have to be sorry, namas era un accidente". I looked up and almost lost my air supply as I scanned a chiseled and sharply cut face belonging to him.. he has rich hazel eyes and soft creamy tan skin.. his hair was brownish but with black mixed in and his scent was strong of cologne that smelled marvelous. I took in what he was wearing and the white t shirt he was wearing did no justice to how strained it looked on him because of his overpowered astray of muscles. Along with his legs under his grey joggers. I snapped out of it when he was suddenly shaking me, "Are you ok?" He asked in a deep voice. "Y-yes" I stuttered out. He laughed a deep laugh and it sent shivers through me. "Well my name is Donavyne nice too meet you." He took my hand gently and shook it, "My name is Cali" I said quietly. A honk startled me and I saw Libby mouthing 'we are going to be late!' I looked back only to see that he had shuffled passed me and I gave a small wave and headed out to the car and hopped in refusing to talk about what just happened.
