Diachi's pov

It's been such a long time since they took Sugawara. So long that the days have blended together in a thick mass of day and night. I can't remember today's date but I can sure as hell remember the date he was captured. July 3 2017. I constantly remind myself of it. I won't let myself forget. He is just too important to forget.

Today is a scavenging day. My friends and I are cleaning our weapons as we wait for the sun to dip below the horizon. I slid the bullets into the gun I held. I watched as my hand moved in muscle memory along the shaft of the shotgun. I still don't know where Bokuto found this. Speak of the devil. The grey haired man slipped into our camp holding a duffle bag.

"Hey, how's the sun?" I asked him as he walked over to the makeshift table I was leaning against.

"Almost there." He said with a smirk. "Getting impatient, D?" I sniffed and grabbed the bag. I started to stuff it full of weaponry.

"You could say that. I just want to find something to eat tonight." I replied. Bokuto smirked. I still don't understand how his sense of humour could survive the loss of control over our world. I know mine didn't.

"Don't worry, we'll find something." He said. Before They arrived Bokuto used to be incredibly loud and rambunctious. Now after a few mishaps, he learned to keep his voice down.

"I hope so." I zipped the bag and swung it over my shoulder. "I think I'll eat you soon if we don't." Bokuto looked surprised.

"You wouldn't!?" He snapped at me. I smiled.

"Better watch your back then." I said with a chuckle. He was so gullible. Suddenly someone new popped into the tent we were in. The man smiled at us.

"Hi! Ready to go?" The brunette said chirpily. "The sun just went down." The man who is speaking was Oikawa Tooru, our Doctor. He wasn't all that good at medicine but he was the only one who had any idea what pills did what so he was pushed into position, Although he grew to love the human body and helping others. But to everyone's surprise when meeting the handsome man, Oikawa had an obsession with Them. He loved how they worked and how intelligent they were. He would talk about them nonstop if you let him. The docs love for the aliens often scared people so we tell him not to be too chatty about his interests. I nodded and Bokuto grinned.

"Hell yeah!" The man cried. Bokuto always loved scavenging. I don't know if it was the thrill of being out in the open or the enjoyment of finding new and useful things but the owl-like male always was in a rush to leave. I followed Oikawa out of the tent into the cool evening. I squeezed the handle of my small handgun. When ever we weren't sheltered by our tents, I felt far too vulnerable. Ever since They took my Suga away I've been so on edge. Oikawa led me and Bokuto towards the jeep. We were smart enough to know not to drive the vehicle during the night but we needed some gear from the trunk. I headed for the back and threw it open. Reaching in I grabbed two similar bags to mine, these were empty though and I tossed them to my partners. My job was to protect the rest of the team in case of attack. I had all the weapons. The empty bags were for Oikawa and Bokuto. They were supposed to grab all the loot they could carry and fill the bags. I shut the trunk door as quietly as I could and turned to my friends. I cocked my gun and we started off. We headed away from our temporary camp and towards the city. Or what was left of it at least. After about thirty minutes we were quietly stalking down one of the main streets. I anxiously glanced up at the abandoned skyscrapers. Some foolish people used to live inside the crumbling buildings but many had fallen through floors so the people got the message. I shivered at the thought. Oikawa waved me and Bokuto over to where he was standing in the mouth of an alley.

"Found something." He whispered as we jogged nearer. He nodded towards a pile of boxes. They looked new and we glanced at each other. He didn't know what to expect, so when Oikawa knelt down and flipped open the lid of a box, Bokuto and I wheeled away in disgust. The boxes were filled with small, shiny, silver ovals. Oikawa gasped in awe and I groaned.
