Down in Flames

The Good Life

I woke up wrapped in Nik's arms and buried under a mountain of covers. I smiled and snuggled closer to him. His grip tightened around me pulling me so I was lying on top of him. He gave me a grin fit for the Cheshire cat and moved a long, red lock of hair out of my eyes. I placed my hands on his shoulders and whispered, "Good morning handsome". His smile got brighter if that's even possible and he whispered back, "Good morning beautiful". I leaned down so my lips brushed against his before connecting them together in a kiss. After a minute I pulled away and smiled down at him. "The perfect way to start the morning love". I giggled and he flipped us over so he was hovering over me. I slid one of my hands up so it was resting against his cheek. "Yeah it is. I love you Nik". He turned his face and kissed my hand before leaning down to capture my lips in another kiss. "I love you too Nina". I smiled and we kissed again before I felt his hand slip down to my side and he started tickling me. I squealed and squirmed trying to get away but I was trapped. He continued to tickle me until my face was red and I couldn't breath. Finally he stopped and I panted trying to catch my breath. "For the love of all things holy please don't ever do that again"! He chuckled and I smiled at the sweet sound. "I'm sorry love but I wanted to hear you laughing again". I smiled and brushed my fingers through his hair pulling his face down to me. I kissed him again before whispering in his ear, "It's okay darling now come on we have to go make breakfast". He nodded and rolled off of me before getting up off the bed. I watched as he slipped on a pair of pants and pulled on a t-shirt. "Enjoying the view there love"? With a small laugh I answered, "Always" before getting up to get dressed as well. I put on a pair of leggings and one of Nik's shirts before following him to the kitchen.

Everyone was already in the kitchen waiting on us when we arrived. Elijah had made us breakfast and the others had set the table. We both took our seats when I realized how crowded we all were. "Is something wrong Darling?", Kol asked. "I just realized how crowded it is in here". He nodded and a thought occurred to me. "What if we moved? You know so we all had some personal space and privacy". They thought it over for a minute or two before giving an answer in unison, "That sounds like a perfect plan"! "Good Nik and I will find the perfect place later for now lets eat". With my final words everyone dug in including myself.

After breakfast we all went on a run since everyone insisted on joining me now. While the others were taking a shower me and Nik made a list of all the places we've lived that would be big enough for everyone. About half way through the other Mikaelson's joined in. Kol sat down on the couch so I was laying across it with my feet in his lap and my head in Nik's. Bekah and Lijah sat in chairs while Finn sat in front of me leaning back against Nik's legs. "How about we move to a castle? You know because you're a queen and Nicklaus your king". We all stopped to think over Lijah's, as per usual, wise words. It did make sense plus there would be plenty of room so we all nodded. Just as Lijah was about to speak again it hit. I jumped up off the couch and over Finn as I begin to speak, "What about the castle we owned in Goldstone, Coldrock?". Everyone thought even though Nik was the only one who knew what I was speaking about. "It'd be perfect love! Not only is it abandoned because of the killing spree we went on that one time but the weather there was always so nice. Plus that castle was huge so there'd be enough room even if other people decided to join us". I nodded and we went to tell the others who had all finished their showers by now.

We talked about everyone leaving to go back where they came from so they could pack and spread the word about the move before we actually moved during dinner. Everyone agreed and we switched to talking about what we would need and what everyone should pack. We also talked about how much we'd all need to work to get the kingdom up and running again since it had been abandoned for centuries. Everything was going smoothly until Rick spoke up, "Nina as much as me and Avery love you and wish to move with you we have lives here we can't just leave. With that being said, instead of leaving with you we're going to meet you there. It'll give us time to tie up strings, get everything in order, and besides we could really use some time to ourselves". I nodded thinking over what he had said. "Yeah Rick that sounds like a plan. Besides you both deserve it after everything that you've been doing to help us out". He chuckled at my words before speaking his own, "I'm your helper and your friend  Nina I will always be there for you. As for Avery she really cares about you and everyone else so she'll always be there for you too". We both smiled and I gave him a hug before getting up and clearing the table. Nik soon joining me in doing so.

Once Nik and I finished the dishes we picked me up and carried me to bed. He laid me down and climbed on top of me. We kissed for a while before he turned and laid next to me. He wrapped an arm around me and pulled me close before turning out the light and whispering, "Goodnight beautiful. I love you". I smiled and snuggled closer so I could whisper in his ear. "Goodnight handsome. I love you too". With a final kiss we both fell asleep wrapped in each others arms. Yeah right now we were living the good life.
