Reval's Academy for all Specials (RAAS)

Chap 1

"Wake up already you lazy bum!!" Selene shouted at me. She was my host mom at a branch of the Sydney Orphanage. There were four other kids there and they all were younger than me by a few years and super annoying. Don't get me wrong I like kids it's just the kids here were supposedly the worst of the crop. I don't know what I did to land myself here but I did, but now I'll be going to the best school on a fully prepaid scholarship, only if I can pass a certain test. The requirement was not to bring a pencil or piece of paper but to bring your favorite weapon of choice. "I already told you to get up five times Mrs. 'I'm going to the best school' Lyra!!! You are not going to be accepted if you are late, get moving!"

This is such a long train ride I hope it ends soon. The school is super far away from the orphanage and putting tons of fifteen year olds on it just made it worse and a bit hard not to stand out since I look quite different from most others with my multi-colored hair, pale skin and fully black eyes. Ugh, there are so many eyes on me while I am reading my book but none of them speak to me they are probably already gossiping about me already and giving me weird nicknames. I have a bad habit of getting those; I have had over 20 in the past 5 years and before that, who knows.

As all of the teens got off the train Felern, the headmaster, was waiting for us. We lined up in five lines of twenty. Two-hundred kids and only ten will get the scholarship. I really hope that I get it, the test will probably be really challenging.

"Hello all two-hundred of you!" Said Felern from the podium she was standing at, "This year we have an especially hard test for all of you. There will be three phases; First, you will take a written test including knowledge from the Mineretrule era to the assassination of King and Queen Reval, materials are provided by the school as so no magical temperament has been added on the utensils. Second, you will go through an aptitude test to see how strong your abilities are. Finally, you will go through a mock battle. You will get fifteen minutes to prepare for each phase. The first phase will take place in the library. Your prep time will begin in five minutes. Go".

I was heading to where I thought the library was, I was following the rich kids who had probably been here before, the walk seemed long but I was there within three minutes. We weren't allowed into the library until the five minutes started.

The wait seemed like a lifetime, but when they finally let us in I had no idea what to study. I had spent the last three weeks studying the history of our country and most of the abilities and many other topics.

The library was huge, to say the least. I probably should've studied more, but instead, I read a fantasy book about a world filled with humans with no abilities who lived on a planet called Earth. It was a great book it seemed to portray the idea of a world built like that down to a science.

Before I knew it the fifteen minutes was up and I was sitting at a desk with a test on it and of course, I panicked. Hyperventilating right now was not going to be fun. But you know what, I'm going to have to deal with whatever comes my way.

"You will have thirty minutes to complete the test. Go." Felern said abruptly from where she stood at the head of the room.

The test was... how do I put it... interesting and very biased. Very. It had stories to test your knowledge about the past that were very twisted but were probably what was told to the public, but what we were told in the castle had no filters on what had happened. At the castle there was no sweet talk just the cold hard truth... most of the time. I remember for Prince Ixen, who I was around a lot, there was the sweetness of talk from his caretakers but once we went into the castle and heard the buzz of what was happening from everyone else, Ha, it was a complete waste trying to keep it from us.
